I wrote a few words about decibells and what they are good for. It may raise a lot more questions or remarks and will gladly receive any comments or questions about this article. Realising it is a rather technical thing I hoped to simplify some of it. Hard to 'guess' if things are clearer or even more confusing to readers so any comments are welcome to improve on the info. That's a great article Frans. I think I have finally got over the biggest hurdle about DBs. That is where you explain that the figures are always ratios with one value needing to be known. I always had it in my head that DBs were a specific value, your article has lifted a veil!
I'll read reviews etc. with a lot more hope of grasping the technicalities now, much appreciatd.
There's a LOt of information there and its good that its going to be there to thumb back to as needed. A big subject!

I added another section today about loudspeakers, efficiency and power levels and included DR database relevance. Something that one rarely sees 'coupled' this way but is the essence of headroom and power debates involving real music instead of test tones.
A big subject indeed.
If there are aspects of it that need more elaboration or other aspects one likes to see 'touched' I will gladly add it.
