A quick comment (can't write ay more ATM), for those with quad core CPUS like Mick's Core i7 or SImon's Core i5 checking the box named "Pipeline SDM" will distribute more evenly the load among all available cores and can improve performance as in less stutter or reaching higher sampling rates.
Unless the checkbox "DirectSDM" is left blank there will be no DSD to DSD upsampling, ie all DSD will be played "as is" like in Ian's PC due to lack of processing power (Atom CPU)
Filters ending in "2s" are lighter versions of the same filter without the "2s" so if poly-sync-mp doesn't work maybe poly-sync-mp-2s will.

ok, seems to be running perfectly well now. the cross disappears if i close hqplayer. i notice when playing , if i go to control panel and look at audio devices, there is "none connected". odd, but its working and does sound good. now i need to try and compare to foobar with the 24/192 upscaler and make a decision on whether to buy a license for hqplayer. cheers

another drawback when using the micro as a dac and amp is i cannot incorporate my headphone filter. as the unit when used like this has a "leaner" sound than using the micro as a dac only into my Ember, i suppose this is a good thing. but it would have been nice to compare both with the same filtered headphone.

Haven't you? i am tempted. i do like to have all latest drivers/firmware updates for all of my gear. but i am worried that if it goes wrong i will turn the micro into a novelty paperweight. i dont know why i am worried though , as i managed my motherboard bios upgrade ok. then again there is the old saying "if it aint broke......."

If you read and follow the instructions there won't be any problem. It is really easy and quick.

Certainly was.... but i`m a numpty and can`t see the wood for the trees Javier. Nothing to be frightened of Simon , Javier made it look so easy... that i`m embarrassed to mention it... but i am good at some things. Thank you Javier.... genius of all things digital ATB. Mick. I can see where you're coming from with this little exercise Mick. First of all there are several web pages dealing with what to do, each a little different. Each misses some detail that us non-experts won't automatically take for granted. For example the instructions at some point assume that you'll unpack the zip folder, a simple matter but when you're reading dire warnings about 'bricking' the iFi it tends to slow you up a bit! The PDF packed with the firmware is the clearest guide but it doesn't mention the need to have the latest drivers installed first, which I'd come across on the first page. But I got there! It's a nice feeling when it goes well. Syd

has anyone on here updated the firmware of the micro? Have you done it Simon? I did mine in seconds. I have no idea what it does but the Micro is now running V5 on a check. For anyone who hasn't, you just download and unzip the update. Then boot up the updater in the Ifi folder. The programme has a box where you locate the update and simply press start ... Seconds later, it's on. It's so quick, you'd miss it if you blinked.
