well they arrived today and do look "as new". they are certainly an improvement over the denons, i can turn bass and treble back to zero. the bass is much more controlled. quite happy with them.

Phew! It's always a bit dicey when you recommend something you own yourself. I find them to be very well balanced across the range. Enjoy.

No I haven't considered modding them. That mod looks like a complete waste of time & money to me anyway. They possibly do sound better but £500 better? I seriously doubt it. I've added those to my Watch List because I seriously doubt anyone's going to bite. Do you mind if I ask how much you're paying for yours Simon? relisted at same price i see!!

Gordon, just curious to know what amp you are using to drive your speakers? i have been using one of these..... www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-D-M38DAB/dp/B003U9U7SIbut cant help thinking i could squeeze a bit more quality out of these Dali's with a more powerful integrated amp. (?)

Hi mate. I've been using one of these.. Marantz PM6004The sound was great as far as I could tell but sadly the speakers and the amp are still back in Scotland sitting in storage waiting to be moved to France when the new place is ready. Here in Spain I'm using either the Ember & HD 650's or a JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth speaker.

You guys all have such modern stuff.
I still use my DIY gear I made about 30 years ago (for speakers at least). Granted I recently bought a cheap laptop as music source in the living room after my old Toshiba laptop started crapping out on me again. Should post pictures of it ... but always forget.

That'll do the trick mate but it's still not going to be great at low volume as I don't think any wee speakers are. Maybe look for something that would allow a sub to be hooked up?

The Denon almost certainly is the weakest link but playing hi-fidelity music at a low level is a tough challenge. That's what headphones are for.
Except your guests will hate you.
