Some of you may recall that I started a thread on anther forum regarding our trials and tribulations when buying our new car, a Volvo V40 D2. To conclude, we took delivery of the car yesterday, some 3 months after placing the order and this one was totally as ordered . To respond to Mick's concerns about the mpg, in the time we had the non-compliant car (same engine spec) we did 2,800 miles at an average speed of 32mph and average consumption of 52.3mpg against the advertised figure of 78.3 (IIRC). In mitigation I would confirm that, driven at no more than 72 to 73mph the mpg is much higher but it drops dramatically when driven over that speed. The end . Dave.

^^^ Love it ;D I reckon it really would do mucih higher mpg if I could discipline myself to obey motorway speed limits as it has a sort of 'eco-meter' display on the panel (works on intake manifold vacuum I suspect) and it is no problem keeping it in the green zone until you stray over 70mph. I doubt if I could get it anywhere near the advertised 78.3mpg though Dave.

I get about 23-24 Km/L in my new Megane also far from the 28.7 they promise..
Gallons and miles are different in size so it is hard to compare..

Claus, Roughly 4.5 litres in a K gallon - our American friends' gallons are slightly different (larger, I think). And a km is about 5/8ths of a mile - I'll leave you to do the calculations ;D . Dave.

Why donĀ“t you Islanders use the standards that the rest of the world are using ?? exept the US of course.... If i recall correct the american Gallon is 3,75 liters.. I can not do math at this hour.. ;D
