In the short time I've been on this forum, I've pretty much decided that Project Starlight is the right amp for me. I'll run it from my laptop and likely feed it through a Shiit Modi 2. I know what I want, but I'm still waiting for another month or so to get a big car loan paid off, so I can afford it. Meanwhile, the wait is driving me crazy! What's a guy to do?
I'm biding my time, listening straight from the headphone jack (Yuck!) and tweaking Foobar to get it the way I like. Thanks, guys, for alerting me about Foobar! I'm also going through my music collection, looking for and re-familiarizing myself with the first albums I want to play through the new setup.
A partial list so far:
The Alan Parsons Project: Gaudi (Remastered) - There's so much to love about this album.
The Moody Blues: Long Distance Voyager (Remastered) - I played the snot out of this album in college.
Jethro Tull: Crest of a Knave (Remastered) - Something about this album just rings with me.
The Alan Parsons Project: Tales of Mystery and Imagination (Remastered) - The full orchestral "B" side is great.
The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Songs From Lonely Avenue - I love that Rockabilly guitar led big band sound.
Joe Bonamassa: Sloe Gin - Got to see Bonamassa live a couple years back, so I have an idea what he should sound like.
I know, kind of a silly post, but I hate waiting and G1217 has me more excited about a product than I have been for years! If anyone out there has any favorite albums you feel will really showcase what a proper amp will do, chime in.
