It's actually a knob that can be turned but there is an on/off switch too for direct comparison. I know what you mean about hearing loss & I am certainly suffering from it at the top end according to an online test I did recently. My ears stopped working at 15kHz whereas only a year ago I was hearing 16kHz. Strange thing is though that when I'm actually listening to music - as opposed to a test tone - I don't feel as though I'm missing anything.
As far as bass is concerned I'm now running with Sonarworks in flat mode (using the No Limits curve) but have a boost to the really low bass. +9dB at 12Hz with a Q of 2. It's amazing just how low the HD 650 can go without any audible distortion. I listened to some Massive Attack last night and the low end was exceptional.

The problem with hearing that low end though is that nothing else feels right again!! That's what happened to me. Have you also noticed how 'mid centric' the Senn is now with eq turned off? It's a completely different headphone.
That's why I use a d600 with Ipods. Although their bass is massive, it gives the 'feeling' of very deep bass which I miss after having the Kameleon here.

Absolutely! I can no longer listen to my 650's in their raw state. It's as though the music is being played very loud but far away too. Amazing really because I loved the stock sound from new but good EQ just takes things to another level.
