I've seen some dubious comments about that company. I was close to buying a premium headphone from them until I saw these comments about them. Obviously, yours was fine. The K712 is one of my favourites. It has a nice warmth but a better sounding top end than the hd650 for string tone. Takes a bit to drive it properly, but it's a great headphone. Some prefer it to the K812 as well. Some really good headphone prices there: www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/audio/headphones/over-ear-headphones/AKG K81dj at £33 on page 2 is really low. Price of a Senn px100!! Blimey .... It's £29 on Amazon!!!

The e-bay guys do ship internationally.
In case they refuse and only ship to teh Netherlands I can send them along (E 10.- via DHL)
The K81 is not a good sounding headphone (own one, never use it), the K181 is. They sound nothing alike.

Oh, it's me and numbers again!!! Whoops.
This guy apparently wouldn't ship to UK for some reason, although I can't see why not.
That's a good buy. It's a very useable headphone, which surprised me for an AKG.
I do wonder why the K712 price is beginning to fall everywhere though.

No need to wonder, the K7XX is selling like hotcakes.

Is it the same?

Haven't listened to the K712 but measurements-wise they seem to be pretty close, maybe the K7XX is a tad warmer. Same design/technology, different manufacturing. Personally, I wouldn't shell the extra $$ for the orange accents. BTW: I shared my findings on modding the K7XX here. I'm very happy with the improvement and it's 100% reversible. Pretty sure the K712 would benefit as well.

I wish I still had the K7XX to compare but my feeling is they are very similarly tuned. Could be memory playing tricks on me or product variance but I feel the K712 is just slightly better with a bit more treble extension, clarity and soundstage. I also find the bass more enjoyable for some reason.
Build quality is a bit nicer too with better quality plastics used and less creakiness.
For someone in the US I think it'd be hard to justify the extra paying the extra for a K712 though as there really isn't a lot between them. In the EU its a different story as I actually think you'd struggle to import a new K7XX for less than either of the above K712's once you factor in tax & shipping. Take into account the K712 also comes with a second cable (coiled) and a felt storage bag and there seems no compelling reason to get a K7XX.

I'm less keen on their attempts to get unfavourable Trustpilot reviews removed though. I did consider buying a pair of TH-900s from them because their prices are good but it just felt way too risky so like you was put off. With the price of the K712 I felt it was worth a punt and buying through ebay I had a degree of comfort knowing that I could raise an dispute if things went bad. Prices are very good but it is a case of you pays your money and you take your chances with a lot of these places.

I agree, you do!! It was the TH900 that I nearly bought from there as well. In the end, I swallowed and paid full price. I'm watching th600s as well now, since some might come up at good prices. I'm not sure but I don't think too many more are going to be made, so I'm keeping an eye out.
I like the TH a lot.

TH-X00 sale is live now. People who have reviewed them say it's an improved TH-600.
