I've just discovered a band that is hysterical. 'Disco Volante' is a riot. I believe one musical newspaper once reviewed it and gave it 0 out of 10. There's hysteria and weirdness in harmonies and angular melodies taht sometimes verge on the daft and suddenly, it launches into a virtuoso sequence which is also tinged with madness. A great listen if you want surprises, fireworks and on occasions be appalled by sheer bad taste!!! Three albums: Mr Bungle California Disco Volante (a riot - you may not be able to accept this as music!!!) If you're in a manic mood, Disco Volante will get the knots out of the muscles for you. It gets you wondering where the border is between oise and music - that is a topic that interest me a lot. For a 0/10 album, I think there's a lot more to it than first hits the ears!! For me it's indulgent and fun but I guess others might find it annoying. There are lots of references to many styles contained in what they are doing on this album - some quite cheesy. Certainly, if you played this on speakers, the wife might think you've lost your marbles.

Oh c'mon, give them a taste of the madness:
I think there's something for everyone to love and to hate on this album. It's definitely NOT boring though.
PS. I'd like to skip the death metal throat 'singing' parts.

I listened to one of the other albums today and they went a bit far even for me!!! Putting it mildly ....... toilet humour, literally!! Disco Volante got 0/10 in some music magazine when it came out, but I quite like its madness tbh. It does push your own limits of what you accept as the limits of music, verging on noise..... in a musical way!! The last time I remember being a bit outraged but curious was with Frank Zappa's references to all kinds of things and sometimes, I felt that he went too far. Mr Bungle has more of an underlying sense of humour though I think. You'd have to be very brave to play this out loud on speakers!!! ;D
