I don't know that amp Simon.
You're certainly doing the rounds these days. Are you after something posh?
I quite fancied the other one with adjustable crossfeed. That looked pretty serious stuff to me.

That's the way my wife looks at it ...... Keeps me home and not trying to work I guess. I'm getting very good sounds from my new T50 which is a cheap headphone really. I blocked some ports and it developed a new sound. I like the Polaris a lot. I know many go for the Ember, but the Polaris has a slightly cooler edge in the way that it portrays music which I really like. The Ember is more 'colourful' I think and I guess more prone to tube peculiarities so sound can vary. I'm also enjoying another cheapo ... an old Aune ss amp with digital input. Again, a warmish listen but boy, it sounds good on a lot of of stuff. I also have my own Kameleon now as well which gives the T50 and T40 a kick up the basso. Spoilt for choice really, but I must admit, that amp with crossfeed that you pulled out got my attention. It's a pro attempt at making headphones more speaker like, which is something that would appeal to me in all honesty. Anything that stops them sounding like two mini speakers close to my ears would be a bonus. I think that's why I like the Kameleon so much. The bass goes so deep that you are fooled into thinking speakers, because the silly little drivers on headphones just don't seem capable of producing a bass that's so deep. Very impressive bass actually. If I could shift the sound out of my head, it would be the jackpot!!! I mentioned that big amp to Helena who said I should get it if that's what I'd like, but then I felt guilty so I didn't. Damn my conscience.

The mini version looks good too, but the big 'un looks more like a pro tool to me. The only thing I could see happening though would be to have a lot of 'mini' variations with no real preference. I reckon it might take a long time to work out the best combo for your ears. It's more a subjective thing and preferences can vary a lot. I think anything that gets a headphone to sound more speaker like might be rather nice as long as it really worked.

surely different settings for different headphones would also be required. i could end up spending all my time tweaking as i did with my Meier dac. i suggest you treat yourself Ian, and let us know what you think!? i am reading they are not so good with low imp phones (the phonitors that is)
