Got my hearing tested at work, today. Everyone who works around loud equipment has it done annually. Hearing protection is mandatory, but 27 years of exposure still takes its toll, as does a lifetime of motorcycles, chainsaws, boats, loud guitars, and other hobbies.
All things considered, it's not too shabby for a 52 year old factory worker. The numbers are percentage of loss (left, then right) per frequency, so lower is better.
500Hz 0 0 1000Hz 5 5 2000Hz 5 5 3000Hz 20 15 4000Hz 40 30 6000Hz 15 15 8000Hz 20 15
All in all, they said I was normal for my age group. Just thought it would be interesting to share.
Protect those ears!

Nice! I had mine tested a few weeks ago. All perfect for my age (49), except 8khz in the right ear where I can't hear a thing. Funny, I never knew it!! The audiologist expects it was from some sort of damage when I was a kid.

I do have scar tissue on my ear drums from an incident in my childhood, when a bully poked wires in my ears. Fortunately, my ear drums weren't ruptured!

I think what's real interesting about these tests, is how they can show how we can all hear things in different ways. Different frequency deficiencies would, in theory, create different overall sound shapes. No wonder we can't all agree on the same headphone!
