Anybody have experience trying to unstink smoky smelling gear. Been on a wildfire evac for a while now, hoping to finally get back in a couple of weeks. I imagine that my pleather earpads have turned to pjerky by now . The velour ones can be washed, not sure about the others. Hows about cleaning the internals of my headphones/iems? Just hose em down with contact cleaner? Luckily I managed to snag my fav. stuff before I left (funny how when the sh*t hit the fan, I ran for my gear ) Cheers

Have you tried Fabreze? I've used it for pet odors and other undesirable olfactory offenders with pretty good success. Are you from Alberta? We got a few days of Smoky haze way over in Minnesota for a bit.

My Little Dot II went up in smoke right in front of me in the living room a few years back. I ran into the kitchen and got a bucket. Placed it over the amo while it did a fireworks display. The stink stayed in the room for ages ......

Haven't been back yet due to the evac order, but there has been many days of very thick smoke - one day the air quality index was a 38 on a scale of 10. I'm hoping that since all the windows were shut tight, it might not be too bad inside

Monster forest fires. The last I heard it was something north of 500,000 Ha. Fort McMurray is completely surrounded by forest which has received virtually no rain this year. The day we got evacuated it was 32 degrees with humidity in the low 20s and 70kph gusts. Not much anybody could do but get the hell out of the way. Thankfully my home is still intact, but sadly over 2000 houses were completely destroyed

Another good odor eliminator is vanilla. Get the pure vanilla extract or essential oil. It be used to wipe down all sorts of things. Also, get a diffuser, mister, or atomizer and put a few drops of vanilla in the water when you fill it up. It will help get the smell out of the air.
