I have the well known NX1 which I really like a lot for lower impedance headphones. Ideal for them actually. I also have an NX2 which for me is slightly less successful but is also a digital amp as well as being analogue. The controls all work backwards for me but it works although again, not that powerful, so much better with lower impedance headphones.
My favourite between these two is the NX1. It has a clean sound and power is spot on for anything that is just a bit difficult for weak kneed DAP's like IPods.
I got an NX3 to complete the set. (Curiosity)
It's bigger than the NX1 and so has a bigger volume control. I like that because it gives better sensitivity for volume adjustments. Channel imbalance is a complete non issue which is really nice, because if you set the gain to low, the sound has gone before it reaches imbalance. At high power, you can just hear it at the very bottom. Then again, you'd want to use high power with higher impedance headphones so again, you don't hear it. The vol pot action is nice and it acts as an on/off switch with good gradation from top to bottom. I often wonder why the vol pot action is something that is often overlooked with expensive amps. The imbalance issue can be annoying for lower volume listening and very often, the amp virtually reaches full power at 12 o clock. Thing is, with a nice vol pot, you get the impression of quality because it's so much more controllable and the NX3 one is really good. (Oh dear, a whole paragraph on a vol pot - how sad am I?)
The amp comes with an assortment of things like felt feet to attach it to Velcro if you want. Surprisingly, no rubber feet, so I'll fit some this afternoon. It has rubber bands to stick it to a dap if you want, charging lead and a short connection lead. If you buy from Amazon, they also supply a longer Wingoneer gold plated lead which is quite nice.
It has high and low power. With my Sony Mdr-1a, it's very loud at low power. It also has a bass boost which works quite nicely. It doesn't introduce distortion, at least to my ears, but it gives too much bass with the Sony which already has a healthy bottom end.
If anything, it might have a slightly warmer sound than the NX1 and certainly kicks the Sony into life. It the case is all metal and it charges via a mini sub socket so pretty standard and easy to charge from wall, computer or one of those bi battery chargers that you can get that store power for you.
Not massive power and goes (they say) for 25 hours which is a lot less than the NX1. Great for low impedance headphones.
