is Kameleon still supported by G1217? It should be. Possible Jeremy is updating the website or something like that. When I talked to him 2 days ago all was fine and spoke about filter requests and what I still had to update given the latest measurements. Modules itself will also be supported by me as well.

In Europe Tupisac offered to build a few Kameleon inline filter units. But he has gone "missing" since May from this forum... :-(
Frans are you planning to order more of those boards?

When you are in the UK there is another option. A member here named Tupisac has bought the last remaining Kameleon boards and is planning to sell them completely built. As he lives in Poland import duties do not apply. You can contact him via the forum for pricing and certainly for EU based customers may be worthwhile. I bought my HD800 second hand as well. The previous owner had put new pads and a headband on. hi Frans, i have not had my finger on the pulse of late. i read the comment about last remaining boards and got the wrong end of the stick. i did try contacting Jeremy, as im after a module for my dt770/250, but i guess he's been busy. cheers

It's well worth it Simon. The DT770 sounds wonderful from the Kameleon. Frans has made it so that it still has that fruity bass, but just not as overwhelming and the treble is way better with the peak reduced.
It has a slightly more amount of bass than the Senn hd650, and like the hd650 I think that it's one of those 'special' pairings. Makes the dt770 sound so much more balanced while still retaining the Beyer sound.

I still have portable and desktop amp PCB's. Filterboards will be in stock next month or so. They are making their way to my house. When you only need filterboards, bare or finished, then (for those in Europe) you can just e-mail me.

Will try to remember to let you know. Otherwise I will probably make an anouncement somewhere these boards are back in stock.

I'm listening to my dt770 now Simon and it really has a profound bass, quite unlike the hd650 on Kameleon. I think Frans has left it slightly higher in level so the impact of the bass is terrific for such a cheap headphone. With the treble sting reduced its such a beautiful listen with the Kameleon.
I also wonder whether distortion in the bass might be quite different from the Senn as well, since it has to be reduced in the case of the Beyer rather than boosted and the treble reduced as well. Mostly negative adjustments rather than positive, whereas the Senn adjustments are more positive and in the case of the bass, quite a lot.
Possibly better when things like the deep bass is already present in a headphone and so needs less pushing in the case of the Beyer. It's certainly not reticent down there and has a lovely, 'rounded' quality. Reminds me of a tube sound actually.

Welcome to the forum.
yes, planning to make filters for a lot of recently measured headphones. The DT1770, Amiron, DT1990 and T1, T5P are all amongst them. Don't know at which point I finally have some time for this though. But.. it sure is in the cards.
It's about the only flaw these headphones have perhaps aside from a little bit too much lower mids perhaps.

I plan to try the 1 and 2 ply paper towel mod as well as a temporary fix. I know this isn't the right thread to ask but I have considered pad rolling as well and I was curious to hear your thoughts on how sound might change when you replace the stock velour pads with something like pleather or perforated leather. I'm new to the modding scene and the 1990 Pro doesn't seem to have been modded by anyone yet. It seems like it would be a fantastic candidate for mods with its excellent bass extension and clarity. That Beyer peak needs to go though.

These headphones come with 2 types of pads. They were measured with the 'warm/bassier' pads. You can also fit the (light-grey) pads that will give less bass boost.
For the DT990 slapping on the pleather pads (DT770) gives a tremendous bass boost... waaayyy too much and sounds muddy. DT770 pads are definitely very different from DT990 pads and not interchangeable at all despite both looking exactly the same (from the outside). I suspect this will be the same with the DT1990 but it may be less in effect... dunno can't try it out.

I don't mind the bass boost of the B pads, I actually prefer it. My main gripe is the 7K peak which fatigues my ears after an hour or so of listening. An EQ filter to bring up the mids and knock down the treble would make these headphones sing. Any suggestions on how to attach the toilet paper to the front of the driver? Would you keep the stock felt cover that goes over the driver and place the paper on top of that of place the paper underneath the stock felt? Just curious. I'm really new at this.
Also, last question, I promise. Does the toilet paper in front of the driver have any noticeable effects on the resolution and clarity of the headphone or does it simply knock down the treble region without affecting the rest of the tonal balance?
