Has anyone tried these? Good reviews on Amazon.com. My father's old V6 rest in peace nowadays, but I have some good memories from those!
I also saw that they are mentioned in one of the shopping guides in HF, although I rarely pay attention to those as they are usually driven by sponsoring companies...

www.innerfidelity.com/images/SonyMDR7520.pdfTells me: Massive bass (+10dB), little subbass. Weird forwardness because +7dB peak at 2kHz. Lacks clarity (-10dB deep dip 3-4kHz) but is masked by a HUGE treble spike +10dB). Rolls off at 11kHz. I think the V6 7506 are way better than that. I am sure there is quite some followers though... a huge bass lift and treble peak is liked by some.

I was curious to try this one but last time I looked the prices were quite inflated as it's long discontinued. Felt there were better options for the same money and the FR looked a bit too 'quirky' for my liking despite favourable owner impressions.
Looks wise I like it a lot though.

A lot of Sony's have very odd frequency responses and also seem very limited in extension. They sound bright but don't extend and have a bass hump with no lower bass. The v6 is ok for analytical listening where you want to pick up clicks, hiss and pops. Not sure about general listening though. I always need to turn it down.
I like my Bluetooth Sony a lot. Prefer it to the Bose actually. Mdr1a is ok. A bit too much bloat but I can listen happily to that one. I blocked the vents though.
They all seem so variable.

That FR curve is very discouraging to say the least...
