Hi Guys, Anyone in the Samaritans as I think I may need professional help. Alright I do know they are all unpaid volunteers. I have just spent many many hours tidying up my HiRes files, just short of 1TB of them on a 2TB HDD. Tonight I came to play them in foobar, only to be to be told they were all corrupt (cyclic error check or something similar) I've replaced the USB cable and then put the offending HDD into a caddy only to get the same message each time so it's definitely the HDD where the problem lies. Strangely Win Exp sees the disk normally and reports it is working properly but totally empty. Meanwhile Disk Manager also reports it totally empty but oddly reports the file system as RAW and the drive as Inactive. The last time I used it the file system was NTFS and the disk was Active. So ...., are the files recoverable and has anyone any idea as to how this might have happened? Did I mention that I hate computers? Dave.

Dave, don't touch a thing and send me a message tomorrow. Too late tonight.

Sounds like a jobby for Scandisk. You don't have a backup of those files? Don't do anything and wait for Javier.

Hi Javier, Thanks for the note of encouragement - from your reply it would seem that all may not be lost . I'm happy to leave it alone until you are able to get involved, no hurry. Many thanks, Dave.
