Helena had a little lump taken from just by her eye in hospital today. Done in ten minutes. So I occupied myself (and Lucy) and made a little film ....

I spotted the intentional blooper. Do I win a prize? 'Bad Dad' - is Lucy sending us a message? Just 'bought' the audiobook of it for Gregor using a spare Audible credit I had kicking about. He got the book for Christmas and really enjoyed it. Have to say I'm quite enjoying the audiobook myself! - it's a very good listen for children young....and a little less young!!

Blimey, well spotted Mark! She does do that kind of thing quite often when I’m filming because she knows I’m looking for all kinds of things. She can be a little bugger!!
Really, this film was just me trying out some colour grading tools (Called LUTS) which are often used in film making to keep colour consistent through sequences of clips. In horror films, they sometimes show flashes of the same thing and change the LUT on the repeats as I did in the very fast clock sequence.
Many of my little films are just me playing around either with a camera, microphone or film effect so I learn which work best with my particular combos - much like headphones and amps!
You think headphones are difficult ..... try microphones!! They’re unbelievably inconsistent.
I used a Kodak LUT for the scenery shots and also played around with video shape within the same sequence.
Lucy is so used to see me doing 5hings like that for practice or as an experiment, that she often plays dirty tricks on me.
Cornwall at the end of next week. That’ll be fun if the weather allows!!

Glad to hear it was minor. Watched it on my iPad. Wow. The sound was very good. Also, nice to see someone else has 8,000 remotes like we do!

OMG - I better take a close look at that video in case it shows the safe open!!!!
Remotes are a pain. TV, Video, Apple TV, Amazon TV, House lights, Soundbar, Multi remote for 4 of the devices. And we still lose them.
Microphones and video are difficult to manage Ron. You’re always checking signal to noise ratio because in many cases, the audio has to be taken in less than ideal circumstances. (That is, further than two or three feet from the subject)
I did that film entirely on a GoPro with a lavalier mic plugged directly into it. I also used a mini portable light in some shots to brighten them up. Great set up for mobile use and quick to set up, but the GoPro audio isn’t that great, even with a mic going in because it processes it. Picture is pretty good though and it goes beyond HD which allows me to crop in to the picture if I want in post editing without losing quality.
The process of making films with decent sound and picture is often quite a challenge, let alone compiling it, but I do enjoy doing it; even if it’s like this, basically a video about nothing in particular. It helps to keep footage of Lucy as she grows up without being the usual mug shots of absolutely nothing going on!!

I’m sure you will treasure these videos as the years pass. Great idea, as time flys so fast.
