In an effort to lose a few pounds off my waist and reading that Green Tea was healthy, I bought a packet. After the first mouthful I had an instant mental image of what it was like. Imagine a small goldfish bowl with two fish in it but the water hasn't been changed for a couple of weeks and has gone scummy and cloudy. Strain out the fish, waste products and food. There you have it-Green Tea. The rest of the packet can go straight in the bin.

Does it just make you feel full, cos if it does, ordinary tea might do the same. I'm thinking of using a carving knife to get the fat off.

Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits, with some evidence suggesting that regular green tea drinkers may have a lower risk of developing heart disease[4] and certain types of cancer.[5] Although green tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss, a green tea extract containing polyphenols and caffeine has been shown to induce thermogenesis and stimulate fat oxidation, boosting the metabolic rate 4% without increasing the heart rate
I would rather be fat and unhealthy

I found out I am diabetic (type 2) a few years ago so eat fairly healthily. I used to like a nice bottle of red at the weekend and have cut that out, reduced portion size and have low fat greek yogurt with fruit after a meal. Go for at least one walk a day and go on the exercise bike every day. My weight is ok for my height but I cannot lose it off my gut. There is a lot on the net about wheat being the problem. It would be really difficult to cut out toast and sandwiches though.

Well Jerry, you're the same age as me and I've found that even by eating the same amounts as I used to, I gain weight straight away. Moreso now I don't tour. The body is slowing down but the mouth works at the same speed. I hate it.

Once you seriously cut back on sugar it starts to irritate you how it's put in everything because it's cheap. We went to a friends house the other week and they gave us a cocktail-Mahito I think it was. I nearly gagged it was so repulsive with all that sugar in it. Good job I know them well and they could laugh at my reaction. Reducing sugar certainly helps with weight loss even if you are not diabetic.

Thanks, Jerry. I might try that actually. I haven't changed anything in the way that I eat, but slowly, I'm growing and don't like it.
I think it may be age related too but will definitely have to cut down.

We have a term in the UK that goes on about talking 'double Dutch'. (Sorry Frans) It seems that you speak that very language, Chong.
Are you aware that no-one understands you?
Nǐ shì guàiyì
or
你是怪异
or perhaps just utter
Blowrocks?
冲,为什么你讲很多废话?
For Javier...
Chong, ¿por qué habla un montón de tonterías?
or
Chong, waarom praat jij altijd poep?
Where's the whisky?

Thank God Ian, I thought it was just me I rarely understand anything he says. Very few of his posts seem to make much sense. Chong, you are a wonderfully strange chap
