I read your measurements/comparison/mods compendia about the HD6**(S) and HD58X. Kudos man! Really outstanding! How does the new HD560S fit among the other? And how does it fit in your personal performance rating (page 4 of the HD58X evaluation PDF)? What is the best in absolute terms in your opinion? And what is the best wrt price/performance ?

The HD560S is less 'warm' the HD560S is more 'neutral' in the lows to mids. The modified HD58X, with the elevated midbass removed is tonally a bit similar to the HD560S below 2kHz. Above 2kHz these headphones differ. The HD560S has more clarity where the HD58X/HD660S are slightly subdued. The HD600 is similarish in the treble tonality but the HD560S is a tad clearer. HD6XX, HD650 are between HD560S and HD660S. Stereo image is 'wider' than the other mentioned sennheisers and more 'lively/dynamic'.
IMO the only real downside of the HD560S is the 5kHz emphasis. With the filter it sounds as smooth as a HD650 in the highs but widereasier to pinpoint, more dynamic, less warm and better extended. Comfort differs, the cable is long and tangles eassily I made mine shorter (difficult cable to shorten)

Thanks! HD560S goes for 180€ where I live. HD58X goes for 170 USD on Drop. Unfortunatey the one I'm most interested, the AT R70x, costs 300€ new. Tough choice.

I put aside the idea of buying an R70x because at its price I don't want to run the risk of finding myself with a veiled HP. I don't like veiled, recessed or distant sounding HPs. I prefer a slightly forward presentation. I usually listen with the 1more Triple Driver Over-Ear, as you know a warm & bassy HP but I find the mids & treble at the right level. I assume an improvement would be the warmer HD58X (or HD650/HD6XX) rather than the more neutral HD560S (or HD600), so I'm trying to decide between HD58X e HD6XX, to drive with my Yulong DA9 desktop DAC/amp.
In your HD58X evaluation when you compare the modified HD58X and the HD650(2017)/HD6XX, page 17, you claim "The HD650 has more midbass/warmth and a bit less ‘presence/clarity’ due to the deeper recession around 2.5kHz". I'm a bit confused because the graph shows that the HD58X has a deeper recession in that area, so I guess it's the other way around, isn't it? Given that their price point makes no difference to me, do you think the price difference between HD58X (170USD) and HD6XX (220USD) is justified?

I like the 1 more for its sound, I couldn't live with the comfort. HD560S is closest to the 1 more.
HD58X is a bit better in the lows, HD650/HD6XX are comparatively (small difference) less well defined in the bass. Treble is 'smoother' and a tad more 'forward' compared to HD58X.
Different drivers, each of them has some slightly better and less features.
