Hi the 'sparkies' amongst you, I have a question. I have a 2,000 mAh 24V Li-ion battery that refuses to accept a charge from the specified charger (which is working OK 'cos it had no probs charging another identical battery). The application is about as far from audio as it's possible to get . Is there any way of 'kick starting' it again or should it only kick it into the (segregated) bin? TIA, Dave.

Unlike car and NiMH/NiCd batteries, a lot of Lithium batteries have internal circuits that control the specific charging and discharging cycles of that battery. IF that circuit stopped working suddenly most likely that control circuit is dead. If the battery has been fully discharged by accident it could also be damaged. If it is over 4 years old and capacity got progressively worse it is 'depleted'.
Some older NiCd batteries and NiMH that have NOT been fully discharged can be revived by multiple charge/discharge cycles but won't have their quoted capacity any more. Li batteries are another story though.

I had a sat nav in the car which worked for about 4 minutes on battery so I had to just leave it plugged in for years.
My new one does 2 hours.
