A depressing subject for this prog rock, concept album. If you like Tinyfish sound, I think that this is a brilliant development.
'Amazing Wilf', who I really like a lot (Dave) now has his own label and this band are part of his label. I admire his work a great deal and I know he works hard on the production of his show 'The European Perspective' which is quite brilliant. I recommend his radio show - 3 hours of prog rock and really excellent stuff as well. He's a great 'spotter' for good bands.
Dave introduced me to the music of Guy Manning who is a great songwriter, producing really interesting stuff. Actually, Guy wrote to me on RG as well which I was very touched by. Most artists don't give you the time of day. He played for another of my favourite bands, The Tangent and then went off to work totally on his own using his home as a studio!!!
Dave is trying to get more money to the Artists rather than the company. At the moment, it's a tiny company but if he releases more like this, it is going to be THE label for prog rock.
It concerns a girl called 'Dora' and is not a nice story but the music is very emotionally charged and well presented.
"Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed” has been released by Bad Elephant Music on 1st July 2013.
Fusing pop, prog and electronica into a story of abuse, betrayal and madness, “Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed” is the new album from Shineback, solo project from Simon Godfrey of Tinyfish. The album – with lyrics from Simon’s writing partner in Tinyfish, Robert Ramsay – centres upon the story of Dora who undertakes a fantastic, yet disturbing journey into her own dream word where she encounters dark revelations about her past buried in memory.
To aid Simon in this venture, artists such as Matt Stevens (Fierce And The Dead), Dec Burke (Frost*, Alpha Flood, Darwin’s Radio, Dec Burke Band), Henry Rogers (Touchstone, DeeExpus, Final Conflict), Andy Ditchfield (DeeExpus), Hywel Bennett (Dec Burke Band) Paul Worwood (Tinyfish) and Danny Claire (Ion Blue, Michael Angelo) have contributed their time and talents to make this a truly genre crossing record.
It's a great album along the lines of Tinyfish' 'The Big Red Spark'
