This just shows how preferences for headphones can be swayed by circumstances and purpose. It always makes me smile when someone asks something along the lines of 'What's the best?' It really depends.
Here's the scenario. If you were away from home for 4 weeks and wanted to take music and a headphone to use both for monitoring purposes and listening for pleasure, what would you take?
It's something that is kind of complex if you're OCD about music like me!!!!
I decided in the end .......
Ipods galore. (One on my wrist that acts as a watch as well as a timer. (Nano 6g) Strap was courtesy of Mike and is one of my most used accessories!!!! You fit the Nano on a wrist strap like a watch and can run any wires up your arm!! (Great to avoid muggers.)
For an amp? Tempting to take your best eh? I decided on Neco. Low power but a battery life that is truly amazing so no need for a charger.
That (for me) limits the headphone to an easy to drive one. In the end, I've opted to take the Sony V6 since it's comfortable, works well for monitoring and sounds OK with general music files. Mine seems to have mellowed with age (or I'm going deaf in the top range) It has had a lot of use.
I'm cheating a bit because I will also be using the Senn ie8 with customs (via radio unit) at certain points of the show when I have been ordered to move and they do work well without an amp. Who wants to see a 59 year old move in a night club? In that heat too!! I've been in training for a bloody week where some woman keeps pulling my legs around 'cos I move like a frog.
If you could choose one, mobile for being away from home, could you choose?
This is only a 'fun' question........
I only have 3 days .........
