Before Dave gets in there .......
Massdrop will be pushing HD600's next week and so might be at a good price if you want one.
One really good headphone.
One tip - buy a Beyer headband for it. More comfy and covers the paintwork which comes off too easily if you stretch the headband on your head.
Cable has a dual plug too which is really handy for portable amps.

Along with my Fostex, they are my most used headphone.
I don't find the bass lacking tbh. If anything, a bit smooth up top but I quite like that in a headphone rather than that 'strident' top end that some call so called 'detail'!!

Before Dave gets in there ....... Massdrop will be pushing HD600's next week . I take it you have inside knowledge? . All I can see is an overwhelming poll in favour of them 'doing' the HD600s. I shall look out for them and see what sort of price they might go for. Thanks for the 'heads up'. Dave.

Along with my Fostex, they are my most used headphone. Sometimes the guys at work will ask if I have any recommendation for a decent quality headphone they should think about. I generally start talking about the amazing bang-for-your-buck of my Superlux collection, or the fun sound of my 990's, the incredible smoothness of my old AKG Sextetts, the deep bass of my DT150's, the 'attack' of my modded SR-80's . . . you get the picture. But when I actually sit and think about it, the can that spends far and away the most time on my head is the HD600's. It's not that they do any particular thing in an absolutely outstanding way, they just do everything well, in a nice balanced un-dramatic way. My absolute favourites. If I was held at gun-point and asked to pick one headphone to keep, it would be the 600's. Dave, if you do pull the trigger, you will not regret it.

I shall watch closely and if the final price comes within budget (£5 ) I shall definitely pounce.

One of the most even handed headphones I've heard. It's the one I always recommend to newbies without feeling a twinge of regret.
I'm even thinking of getting a spare in case they're discontinued!!

superbly comfortable too. only had mine for a short time, but as with the d7000, i found i could use them even if i had a headache. not so with the lcd2, i'm afraid.
