Hi, I've just had an idea to help persuade drivers to spend as much time in the inside lane on dual carriageways and to the inner two lanes on motorways - what do you think? We all know that some road surfaces are much noisier (tyre noise) than others so why not make the road surface noisier as you move towards the central reservation? Inside lane as quiet as is possible, middle lane (if present) a bit noisier and the overtaking lane as noisy as can reasonably and safely be made? Anybody foresee (not hear ) any problems? Dave.

Absolutely excellent idea Dave.
Beats mine, which was for the Police to be equipped with 'car-tasers' that they could fire at the offending vehicle and give the occupants a mild shock.

Mine would be a taser type device that could cut the engine on stolen cars so the police would not have to chase them for X amount of miles at high speed endangering everyone on the roads. Dave. The police now have powers to give on the spot fines for people hogging the middle and outside lanes and for tailgaiting, don't think it will make much difference though just like mobile phone usage.

If Hammond can survive 800,000 volts, I am not sure that a Tazer would take them out www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve6XGKZxYxA

the way things are going with technology and our loving government i can see us one day being taxed more for using the overtaking lanes. sat navs already measure speed, they no what road your on...... you can see where this is going! one day automatic speeding fines or maybe they will just work it the other way and govern the speed of your car, through sat nav tech, for any given road? where did i put that length of rope
