I went out today to a well known UK shopping centre called Bluewater.
Took Lucy to see a film and did a bit of wandering around.
Coming back to the car in the car park, I saw a police van parked beside my car and quite a few people gathered.
Bugger, my car was burgled.
The toe rags had nicked my sat nav and a couple of hard drives with personal stuff ... like unreleased recordings on it. `they brok the driver's side window. `i think they were disturbed since the radio remained and the cash I had in the glove box.
Policeman wouldn't allow me to drive away but the staff in the shopping centr came out and cleaned up the glass for me and the police guy escorted me to the police station to wait for a man to come out and replace the glass. He didn't want me to drive on the motorway with bits of glass liable to fly out.
We waited until 8.30pm and the glass guy put in a temporary window until tomorrow or Monday. He also cleaned the car out!!
There are some really nice people around.
The wife felt sorry for me so she suggested I replace the sat nave with a really posh one from ourown 'inurance'. We pay our own little kitty each month for insurance.
Not nice being burgled.

Ian, I know it doesn't feel nice at the moment, but, believe me, be grateful it was your car and not your house! A flat I once lived in was burgled and it was the most unpleasant feeling I have ever experienced. Ever. To know someone had been inside your home, looking around, touching things, breaking things, stealing things, was absolutely unbearable. In the end, after a month or so, I moved. I just had to. And it was nothing to do with the cop telling me to be "On my guard, because once they've burgled you once, they always come back" I don't want to sound too dramatic, but it leaves you feeling genuinely 'violated'. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Jeff

I'm not too mad about it Jeff. They put a lever into the window and it shattered. Took the Sat nav from the car and I think got disturbed. Window was the only damage.
I'll get a posher Sat nav in its place
Daughter was shaken. She cried until the police man put her in his van and gave her his Helmut to look after. Then she was delighted.
I've been burgled quite a few times but it's the first time she's seen anything like this. We live in a secluded place so she's never had to deal with anything like this or even annoying neighbours.
The staff at Bluewater, the policeman and repair guy were fantastic. The staff cleaned my car out for me. The policeman called insurance and repairman for us and used his position to get them out instantly, and the repair guy got every piece of glass left out of the car with a really strong Hoover.
They were all so incredibly nice actually.
Four cars were done at Bluewater car park yesterday. Ours was the least damaged. The others had the guts ripped out in attempts to steal radios. The policeman thinks my Sat nav caught their attention and they then got disturbed.
So I was lucky in a way.

It's funny how it affected her. She's never seen a 'violation' if you see what I mean and she literally stood by the car and started to quietly cry to herself. I felt quite sorry for her but she soon cheered up when the policeman gave her the helmet to look after!!
We were escorted to the police station where we waited for the glass guy and Lucy thought she might be appearing on TV which really perked her up!!!
She's OK today thanks Simon and I've ordered a nice new posh sat nav. (Tom Tom 6000) Feel lost without a sat nav in the car nowadays. The beauty of them is they take you right to the door and I often have to look for places for work.
I think in a way, that Lucy leads quite an isolated life although I guess she's also quite privileged. She lives in an isolated place and so is able to ride her bike or scooter around the place really safely, without worrying about cars since we don't live on a road, but it also cuts her off from her friends who have to make a special trip and she doesn't really see so much of real life on the streets, if you see what I mean. So for her, it was like a real violation of her 'space'. ie - the car.
Anyway, she's playing happily enough outside now!!

The police said the same about Eastern Europeans, Mick. No damage to car, just the window. The three other cars were damaged inside quite badly and one had the plates taken.
4 were done on Saturday in all.
Tomtom are sending me a Go6000 so no big deal there either. The only thing about my old Sat nav, it has my home marked so it could guide them here!!

What is nasty as well, is the policeman helping me (and boy, was he good) said that people bought return day tickets on planes to come here and beg or steal for the day and then they go home again. Apparently, flying on a day return is very cheap.
The officer was brilliant. He tracked all my details on his mobile and arranged a call out from the glass people. I was done a few years back for doing 36mph and you, I really lost respect for the law. However this guy couldn't have been more helpful.
Bluewater has its own station and they are really good. He was especially brilliant with Lucy who was a bit scared.
Anyway, window fixed now and new Sat nav on the way, so all's well.

Yup!!!! Its bad enough that we have to deal with our own low life indigenous sh"t Ian, but its getting worse by the day with the influx of every other countries low life parasites as well. Next year there will be a couple more countries participating, especially looking forward to the Romanians, oh joy what a wonderful nation they are. Mick. At least you have got a lot of water guading your homes, we just have an open border, so to come an steal in our country they only need access to a car..

Border controls in the UK are pretty naff though Claus. The water hasn't stopped them they also come here via the tunnel from France.
On many occasions, the French haven't stopped them and are relieved that they have left their country!! There's quite a group collecting in Calais now ready to come here when the laws are changed in this country by the EU Parliament.
In fact, some UK people want out of Europe because of things like this. There may be a vote here.
We are seeing more and more come here to the point of overcrowding in cities. Also, crime has been difficult to control when they're not British. This country has changed beyond recognition now.
Also, most don't speak English so we tend to get pockets of different nationalities together in different parts of the country. It is very difficult.
Also sad that the police actually say, straight out, it's Eastern Europeans who broke into my camera and it'll get worse up to Christmas. Seems to suggest we need more police there and also cameras.

The glass people fixed my window, but there were loads of tiny shards left down inside the door, scraping the window. Phoned them at 9 this morning and by 9.45, the guy arrived!!
He had a special flexi tube for his Hoover, which he sent inside the door and got most of it.
Great service.
My new Sat nav from Tom Tom is amazing. It calculates traffic delays and continues to update all of the time while you drive. Terrific thing.
Using it this morning made me avoid two traffic jams!! They came up later on the news.
So, I've done quite well out of the break in!!!
