I have a couple of Pure DAB Radios. The first one which may not still be available now since it has been replaced by this second one that I have. The volume of the second one has been limited because of the blasted EEC ruling about our hearing. That's all very well on a 16 ohm iem but stick a portable headphone in and the output is positively 'pony'. You end up NEEDING an amp so then you can play it as loud as you like!! What on earth is the point of this daft ruling and what type of headphone do they base the volume levels on? Whoever thought this idea up was a bit nutty. It's just not right - my radio won't go up to a level that focuses the bass properly on most headphones, so maybe it's not fit for purpose? The output is unbelievably low. I'd love to know if anyone knows a get around? On some MP3 players, they are limited unless you set them to 'Rest of the World' or 'USA' but for EEC people, this limiting is extremely annoying if you want to use anything better than an iem.

Oh boy! don't get me started with this "we know better than you what's good for you" thing.

Stupid regulations...
For some equipment there are 'fixes', for most there are none. Players that can be rockboxed can be a solution.
Google the brand and type name and put in some search names related to low volume output and see if someone has a solution. It's mostly a firmware or software 'limitation'.

The only fix for it is to attach an amp but that kind of makes a mockery the EEC limitation. The problem is that the limitation isn't set at a level that is high enough for most decent headphones. It's worse on the Pocketdab 2500 than the 1500. The radio itself is fine as long as you can hear it!!
