I had the first 325i in the UK, Dave!!
I had ordered the old one and the accidentally sent me the new one before it was released. I didn't like it though. Like a razor blade with no deep bass and painful to wear for long periods, so I made the biggest mistake I've ever made in hi fi!!
I swapped with a cash adjustment for a poxy cable for my Senn HD650. Heard not a lot of difference and the cable was so stiff and the plugs hung so low from the cups that they touched my shoulders if I moved.
Gave it up as a bad job and went back to the stock cable.
The guy I sent the 325i to also hated them so at least we both lost out.

Not so fond of Grado's... Owned the SR60 for a while and initially thought WOW when I got them but this faded soon when lack of (really deep) lows and accentuated (fake) detailing became apparent. Heard other versions in that range as well (incl Allesandro) and they all sound 'open' and very similar on first listen but annoying after a while. Didn't find the comfort great either regardless of the pads used (even used inverted HD414 pads)
Grado, Sony and Ultrasone never seem to do it for me for some reason, though all of these brands have lots of fans and people swearing by them. It only shows how PERSONAL headphones really are.
I have to admit I never heard the PS500/1000 and original 'John Grados' nor the 'edition' versions of Ultrasone which may sound more in my direction.
