have been mulling over replacing my onkyo sacd player. (rarely used, but back-up for when my pc goes tits up)
i have a few sacd's and dvd-a discs. so figured a used universal disc player would be good as it would also play the blu-ray audio discs (should i ever get any).
also i could watch the odd blu-ray movie on my pc monitor too. (i dont have a br drive in my pc at present).
any advice on what to look out for would be good.

Oppos are among the best Bluray/universal players but they are not cheap: www.oppodigital.comThe latest one, the 105D, doubles as a USB DAC. Movie PQ wise they are second to none.

I would second Oppo. I am on my 3rd oppo from clear back to my DVD only DV-981HD. My current is a bdp-93 which has served me well since June of 2011. Also, oppo holds their value very well. I paid around $199 for that old 981HD new, used it for 5 years until the power button was wearing off, and it still sold for $120 + shipping on ebay! So I look at it as I spent $80 to rent it for 5 years / $1.33ish a month
