Some measurements of my headphone stash. Can be found on the DIY audio Heaven website under: headphones > measurements diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/Only the Fostexes and DT1350 are getting used by the way. The HD438 is used by my son and the HD238 by the wife. The measurements are made on a home-build rig. Before one asks... It is too ugly to post a picture of it...

I've seen it!!! It's not that bad - more important Frans, it works!! Measuring headphones is a really tricky area isn't it? Isn't that ringing or resonating on the AKG K518 in the bass though? 100 - 200 Hz which means it might be very bassy? I really like these graphs with 'waterfalls'. They give a plain picture of what is going on although the 'on head' sound isn't always what I think I shoud get when I hear them. The DT1350 'looks' a bit different to what I think I hear and also, funnily enough, the HD650. To me, the hump in the bass sounds way bigger than it looks. The real art is the interpretation of graphs.

The K518 is a bit on the warm side and a tad uncontrolled. It's NOT one of the headphones I would happily recommend.... Sadly buying a DT1350 is like picking a choclat from an assortment box with your eyes closed. You will never know what you get. www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,367.0.html Most graphs from people who sell the stuff are more flattering by having different dB scales so they look 'flatter' than they sound.

Makes you wonder how well the DT1350 would respond to modding a little. I remember looking at the curious treble response which was surprising.
I still can't make my mind up about them.

I am lucky enough to have found one that at least suits my taste. Of course the filter helps a lot as well as the HD25 pads although they do affect the highs measurably more than I hear. Biggest reason being that dips in FR aren't as obvious as peaks. The only 'peak' is has is in the lower mids which I filter out.
It's a difficult headphone and need to be lucky to get the choclat with the right flavor and perhaps put some icing on it yourself.
Haven't met 1 headphone yet that doesn't need any modding at all... they all have 'something' wrong with it. Don't ask me why as it has to do with a lot of factors, money does not seem to be one of them.
