There's a possibility that there are further issues not fixed by this mod, in which case you will probably have to resort to cup venting like I did on my previous mod. Do the whole mod and check the balance by ear by doing a tone sweep or listening to wide-bandwidth music in mono. Make extra sure that venting around the connector is not your issue, use tape, caulk, whatever to seal every nook around the plug to test.

Great mods, excellent work on these headphones.
Modding headphones is much less quessing work with a measurement rig.
For some headphones a perfect seal or 'conttrolled leakage' is much more important than with other design concepts.

Thanks, Frans. I'm not sure this mod will fix other imbalance problems if present, though.

c61746961Got the cloth today, done the full mod, the bass is almost balanced. After done a mono frequency sweep (from 20Hz to 20kHz, 20 seconds, log sweep) I know why I'm saying the sound is leaning to the left side. While almost balanced on most frequencies, from 1kHz to 2.5kHz the sound on left channel is absolutely louder. Don't know the reason why this is happening. But the cable sealing method is very useful! Another thing I noticed is that when I plugged it into my amp (an Aune B1), the sound is somehow more balancing than directly plugged into my computer, my DT250 is the 250ohm version. So I guess the drive is another thing? solderdudeI only have my RODE NT1 as microphone and have no idea how to build a measurement rig from scratch lol, would you mind sharing some experience on that? ...and does it cost a lot to build one?

Won't be possible with a RODE NT1, way too big Perhaps for now use your ears. Also, when sweeping put it on backwards as well (so left cup over the right ear) to see if the imbalance is truly from the driver. Hard to give any more modding advice as c61746961 owns the DT250-250 I actually measured. I believe some people as SBAF made simple test jigs. Don't expect realistic measurements though as in accurate in an absolute sense but they are quite uesfull for seeing the effects of mods and to check for imbalance.

Good!, on the midrange imbalance try swapping around the cups and then earpads to make sure it's the same channel and not the earpad or your ears. Other than that I don't know what to suggest other than maybe try your hand at more radical mods with the aid of a measurement rig :/ Yeah, headphones can sound slightly different from one source/amp to another.

solderdude c61746961 Thanks Franks and c61746961 I think it's my ear... I swapped around the side then did another sweep test on my CK100pro, and yes, somehow my left ear get more midrange than the right side... It's kinda creeping me out because I didn't feel anything imbalance on CK100pro (or in real life). Or maybe I'm just so familiar to it, or I need to clean my ear lol All in all thanks again for your guys hard work! My pair might not be totally balancing in the scientific way but at least I could enjoy it without caring too much Oh I did other things regarding mod though, including put some foam and cloth inside the right cup (to mimic the PCB inside the left), put one pillar out of the left cup on the plastic baffle... well these are my own tips, don't whether they would affect others situation though

Yeah, there are probably a few things to try to improve the sound further, but I wanted this to be a 'no-frills' mod, no need to open the cups. An Idea do reduce the slight bass depression at 250 Hz is to use some polyfill or pillow stuffing inside the cups. This will lower the bass a bit but reduce the dip as well.
If you're hearing further imbalance in the bass, you can try using an partial gasket on the left channel (not a whole ring).

I got bored from my dt290(dt250 with mic) channel disballance and sound, so I: 1. Ripped off that paper on the back of the drivers and replaced it with more breathable material. 2. Transplanted drivers to my my sony mdr-xb950ap enclosure, and glued a protection for them. 3. Elevated xb950 pads a bit with some foam. Results: more ballanced(imo) sound(frequency response, chanel), more seal. But less comfortable because of pleather pads.
