I've been using my Topping NX1 portable amp a lot recently, but since it only has 3.5mm input sockets, if I want to use phones with a 6.3mm plug I have to use an adapter. I bought one ages ago but didn't use it much. As soon as I used it I realised the 6.3mm socket was very tight. The other day when I tried to pull out the 6.3mm plug of my HD-600's , this happened . . .

You BRUTE....
Destroying perfectly good connectors !
Perhaps heat up the old soldering iron and mount a decent plug and socket ? Have to admit I have never had a similar thing happening. I reckon the socket is the one to blame.

When changing plugs I would look long and hard to find a 3.5mm plug with thread that accepts an 6.3mm adapter. I have this default on the AKG K550's and I love it versus the other way round (as on my K701's).

It is very handy to have the ability to instantly change between 3.5 or 6.3 just by unscrewing the larger plug. I'll definitely look for some.

I thought I was clumsy and ham-fisted but even I haven't destroyed any of my kit quite so comprehensively . Being a non-soldering numptie I would consider one of those large to small or small to large adapters with a wire between them - somehow they seem easier to 'get on with' and are offered by some top-end names in the hi-fi game so SQ deterioration should not be a problem. Dave.
