This 'cream' is designed to buff scratches out of plastic and it really does the job well. I have cleaned the front of mobile phones and plastic headphones with it very successfully. In fact, my Cals had a nasty mark on one cup and Displex restored them to new for me.
I've been working in the garden over the last week, sorting out the lawn. (Weeds!!!) while doing something, I scratched two rings that I have. My wedding ring looked like it had been ground along concrete - it was that bad. I crept quietly into the cupboard and tried Displex on both rings.
It buffed the gold back to pristine. I was really surprised just how well it did the job. So I tried an old gold jack plug. Back to new.
Displex really works well and has been my new gold cleaner. However, I think once in a while only is best since it may be rubbing quite a lot of gold away in the process. The rag I use goes really black but the remaining gold goes really bright like I've had Brasso on it!!

I have a tube of that I used a few years ago. Seems to be good stuff! It does seem more like a wax base as the light scratches eventually returned (same ones). Could be I did not buff hard enough though and user error was to blame as it gets pretty good reviews.
This brought me to look for other off the shelf plastic restoration compounds and what I ended up liking the best was a stuff called Plastics by mothers. It is made for automotive use but it works outstanding! And you get a lot of it volume wise for the money. For small displays, I would apply it to a conical buffer wheel on a dremel. It also will bring back headlights amazingly well that have UV damage.

Being wax based, I guess the wax just goes over the surface? Well, it looks good at the moment.
I looked up that 'Plastics' cream. It's aimed at the repair of cars, but is cheaper than Displex. I might have a go with that stuff as well!!
I took a scratch off my CAL headphones. Being round and shiny, they are prone to scratches. It buffed up really nicely and the mark hasn't returned yet. (After a year) I also regularly do the face of my watch!
