Nne of these are still for sale (all sold now) Fully modded with Shure pads. Looking for E 53.- (which is what I paid for the headphones, pads and modding materials) Shipping costs need to be added and depend on the destination and type. For Europe shipping is between E 9.- and E 15.-.

Grab it while you can. Believe me, they do extraordinarily well straight out from a Fiio DAP. Well worth having.
I'd say ... A mini hd650 there in the making in terms of timbre.
I have two of them just in case I break the wiring on one. They are disappearing now and becoming difficult to find.

The treble is less hard and there isn't the big bass hump. It's VERY extended without the emphasis in the bass that the d600 has. Isolation is slightly better with the velour pads. Tighter fit on the head and smaller earcups. Very comfortable though. Tbh, I haven't directly compared but I think the Philips is more even from top to bottom and goes just as low without any signs of boost down there. They are seriously good. I honestly have kept two in case one goes on me. That's also why I offered to buy Chris with extra fiver if he didn't like them. Just an insurance. Personally, I think they're better suited for portable. Smaller although less sensitive. However Fiios drive them fine. The X5 in particular makes them sound like a BIG headphone with space. Stays on your head way better. I'm frightened of recommending anything now .... In case you buy them and don't like them!!!

I just did a quick comparison Simon. Listening to Genesis direct out from X5.
D600 - much bigger bass and slightly harder edged in the treble. There is more of a feeling of a U shape in comparison to the Philips which is flatter and so not (on the face of it) as dynamic. The Philips needs more power for same volume, but it does sound (to my ears) more natural; especially in the treble
On hard hitting music, the d600 can go 'hard' and a bit edgy. The Philips doesn't.
On the face of it, detail seems much the same. i'd have to listen for much longer to tell.
Thing is, Frans has kind of got the FR quite flat but still extended so they don't sound flashy, but they go deep and are smooth in the treble.
