Gordon, if you haven't changed the OS then the argument he puts up is wrong. He's making out that you've changed OS so they're not responsible. Therefore the software is unfit for purpose. They're also not offering support for older versions? Not good is it?

I haven't changed a thing Ian. One day it worked & the next it didn't. The thing is I've followed all their advice & submitted a log file but it would seem neither of those moderators have taken the trouble to assess it.
Anyway, stuff them! No more money from me. Vox it is!

Hi Mick. Yes, that's exactly what I've done! There was a player I used to use years ago called Cog. Unfortunately it succumbed to the same problems that plague every other piece of Mac playback software. Namely, that the only real way to navigate was via genre or some other such identifier. This pisses me off because I've spent years building up my music collection and whilst it might not all be tagged perfectly it is all sorted correctly in my hard drive's folder structure. Somewhere along the way the boffin's at Cog decided this wasn't good enough & removed the 'view by folder structure' option. So earlier on today I decided to give it another go. I mean, at least it's free. Anyway, the last stable build is something like 2009 or so. I found the option to look for nightly builds and wouldn't you know it - someone's only gone & re-implemented the very features that had been previously removed! It now has a very slick interface & more importantly allows me to navigate my folder structure. Does it sound as good as JRiver? If I'm honest no, I don't think so. It's not a night & day difference though and I can live with it. I think. Thanks for the support guys, Gordon.

Foobar. Very good and free. Indeed, used it for nearly a decade. I binned Windows a couple of years ago though. It's interesting that the only thing I actually miss about Windows is Foobar.

Of course. I forgot, you're using a Mac!! As long as you have something half decent then I'd leave a parting shot because that reply was downright awful and shows quite a lot of attitude. I' e never seen such an awful reply from a software developer.

Well, Cog didn't last long. JRiver is definitely the superior player.
So I uninstalled the version I had, re-installed the same version again & suffered exactly the same problem. Then I wondered why it hadn't asked me for my license key and so I rooted about to find config folders.
Anyone here who has a Mac knows that they don't make it easy to locate hidden files unless you can use the Terminal commands. I found the right command which led me to the config files which I deleted. Re-hid my hidden folders, re-booted my system & installed the fresh copy. It asked for my license key which I had already had emailed to me (you get 10 per year).
I re-booted again and checked that it worked. It did!
Then, after another three hours getting it set up how it was before it's now working perfectly!
What else is there to do on a Sunday. Jet-ski's don't count.
So I'm good.
