the Ether is on my wishlist should i fail to find a used he6. a major plus for these is their weight, or lack of it It has another major plus over the HE6. The ETHER can be driven directly from a phone or DAP and sound excellent. The HE6 needs some serious amping. Bass quality of the HE6 is better. Clarity of the ETHER is better. Would pick either over the stock HD800/HD800S. The price difference between ETHER and HD800S is small. Both are great headphones.

I quite fancy an Ether C. I know some of you start your Xmas shopping early so just putting it out there..
With bills now paid and the big clear out continuing at a good rate I'm almost considering splurging on the C if a used pair comes up at a good price. Would pair with the Mojo and likely call it a day.
Anyone have experience of both Ether cables? Quite a price difference between them but wonder if it's really worth it?

The first version of DUM cable was said to be a quite stiff from users but some reported that the one that comes with the current production of both Ethers is better. If you grab an used Ether ask which version of the DUM cable they got, if the first or the second (current production).

Different.
In weight and ease of use (drive directly from a DAP/Phone) they are better. Also more detailed and 'linear' without a filter. Bass quality of the LCD2 is higher though. The Ether is more 'etherical' sounding where the LCD is more 'solid'.
In tonality the LCD-2 with a filter will be about on par with the ETHER.

Does the ether without a filter blow away a HD 650 with a filter?

to some it will, to others it won't.
They differ on many points.

If you forget about the bass, if somebody wants HD 800 like clarity, speed and transients with a huge soundstage and a very comfortable headphone.

The ETHER does not sound like a HD800.
The HD800 needs EQ, the ETHER can do without. They differ in many aspects.
The ETHER is closer to 'reality'.

Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today. The first version of DUM cable was said to be a quite stiff from users but some reported that the one that comes with the current production of both Ethers is better. If you grab an used Ether ask which version of the DUM cable they got, if the first or the second (current production). Thanks for the warning!
