If you like Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' the album I'm currently having a listen to is remarkably similar in style and sounds used.....
I'm listening to a track called 'Homesick' from their recent album 'All Rights Removed'. It's a 17 minute track and drop dead gorgeous.
This is like hearing Floyd again with their use of drones (same note as Floyd as well) Some of the synth sounds are also similar.
You can hear it on Spotify for nothing or download it from Amazon for £4.99.
A really nice album that took me back to the man on fire on the cover of Floyd's album and the magical sounds on that album.
Really worth a listen. Never heard of Airbag before.

Onto their first album now - 'Identity'. Similar and really well put together. Really nice band. Slightly less Floyd-like. They're a Norwegian band. www.airbagsound.com/the-band/

This is right up my street, thanks Ian. Don't like the name airbag' though. Why couldn't they have picked something sensible like 'rear light cluster'?

Identity is very nice, some great spacey guitar riffs. Lyrically a bit shallow I think. Spotify says they are Italian by the way.

Hi Jerry,
The site has one of their names as Bjorn which is definitely Scandinavian. I like the second album more. It's more like Pink Floyd though - I had another listen today. It is quite like 'Wish You Were Here'.
The singer doesn't have an accent either!!

Aha .... After having played in different projects together, Airbag was formed in 2004 by five class mates from Oslo, Norway. The band recorded their first EP, Come On In, the same year, followed by Sounds That I Hear (2006) and Safetree (2008). Although recorded for promotional use, the EPs were offered for free on the band’s website and got over 230.000 downloads within just a few months. The networking payed off and Airbag signed with Norwegian label Karisma Records in early 2009. Airbag’s debut album, Identity (2009), featured remixed versions of most of the songs from the Sounds That I Hear and Safetree EPs. The album exceeded all expectations and was received with rave reviews, – peaking with the single Colours at top 3 on Polish radio in early 2011.
The second release, All Rights Removed (2011), saw Airbag moving in a more conceptual direction with long, epic pieces and dramatic instrumentation. The album comprises six thematic songs including the 17 minute Homesick (part I-III). The release is also the first with Henrik Fossum on drums. All Rights Removed received six Best Prog Release of the Year 2011 awards and numerous top ranking listings.
Airbag has also become a solid live-act playing at several major festivals and as support and in double-bills with bands like Anathema, Pineapple Thief, Riverside, RPWL and Gazpacho. Maybe they should be called, 'Ayeerbarg'.

I shall write a stiff letter of complaint to Spotify. Oh really - they have them down as Italian? There are some really good Italian Prog rock bands but I can never remember their names. (Might be my age)

Hi Ian, that's a very listen-able track 'Homesick' even for an old codger like me, so I'm now exploring a little more of "Airbag". Alan

Hi Alan, imo the second album is better than the first. It sounds more Pink Floyd like, but I don't mind that.

Another one that is really nice - The Greatest Show on Earth.
I do like this group.
This album has a dark opening where the drums use mostly Tom toms, with no snare drum and low synth sounds and drones. It's not recorded as loud as the others and seems to have quite a punch to it. The bass drum seems to have body weight coming across in headphones!!
