Hi,
Anyone got an idea on a cheap amp to power a pair of DT990 250ohms. It would be for listening to my PC etc. Is there one out there that can be charged via the USB port etc? I really have no idea. Cheers Gadgie

The Topping NX3 or x5 works. A warmer listen - Pocket Amp from Gary in Canada. (Electric Avenues). An ordinary Cmoy.
A posh amp that works well is the Fiio e12a. Bit more money.
Just casual listening, the Toppings are good value.

The IDSD is excellent and works both as an amp and as a dac. They have some serious power behind them as well.
Really, it depends on how much you want to spend on an amp.
Also, how good is the source? Theoretically, amps shouldn't change the sound but provide dynamics that aren't 'squashed' on loud sections. A weak amp might make loud sounds sound crushed or 'compressed' because the amp runs out of power. If the peaks aren't there on the source though, an amp won't produce them.

It's just a normal laptop for watching movies on. Nothing fancy, but no real power from the DT990's at the moment. I do like what I'm hearing though

I know that these things can seem overwhelming since there are so many options out there. What was the budget that you were working with as well?
