Ember runs the plate voltage at 24V (swings from +4 volt to +44V) as it is a single DC voltage and internally DC-coupled design. The output coupling is AC decoupled of course, the input can be AC or DC coupled which affects the grid current. Some hybrid designs run higher plate voltages but need to have more complex power supplies and AC interstage coupling.
One would expect to need higher voltages for plates, which is needed for all-tube designs for a few reasons, but strangely enough even tubes designed for 200V plate voltages still seem to perform well enough even on 24V DC designs with 14V plate voltages.

Has anyone heard the HE-6 or HD800 with the Ember?

The HE-6 and even K1000 are said by a few to pair well with Ember. I think somewhere even in this thread it is mentioned. I have not heard directly of anyone using our gear with the HD800 bit I do not see why it would not be perfectly suitable.

Now have my Ember kit SN:K0015 soldered and running for two days. Thanks Jeremy and Frans! Sound quality is amazing, it clearly better than TEAC AL-501DA which I have. Getting all parts together was a nice time for me, thanks to outstanding packaging and labeling. There were absolutely no troubles to have Ember kit soldered and running. Just switched it on (for the first time fingers crossed) and its alive!

It's the only amp I use at home now. It's just excellent as are the others in the family.

The terrible thing about me is that I just haven't got the patience to put things together!! Seeing that bag of bits made me think straight away - how long will it be before I can hear it. Also, if I did something wrong I'd probably reach for a hammer!! Brave person. It sounds great as you'll find when it's all in one piece.

Isn't garage1217 thinking of getting a EU distributor? I don't like to pay taxes twice and this ember chick keeps arousing me.

There will be for the upcoming power supply as that one is heavy and costs a LOT to ship. Making them in the USA and importing them will still be expensive and taxes are still added. Only shipping will be somewhat less expensive.
Keeping stock for all parts in Europe as well and buying those cheap means large quantities and quite an investment.
If one wants to assemble the boards themselves and source their own parts this can be done. The PCB (including pre-soldered output stages) and top/bottom plate can be ordered from Jeremy which would save on shipping the parts. Sourcing them is very time consuming and some parts can only be bought in large quantities and there is the question of the tubes. The boards themselves are made in relatively small quantities and the thick black PCB with goldwash is quite expensive.
For now all tube amps will not be made in Europe but as said the upcoming power supply and possibly the Solid State version will be available from Europe (Spain).

PCB proto is almost finished up, finalizing this weekend. Then ordering pre-production boards and will give everything test run. Then more testing which takes a few weeks as I will send a proto to Frans for more verification and testing. Otherwise it is very close!
