Umm weird...in the weekends I have been bringing home my Ifi nano IDSD from the office. Today when I brought it back to the office, there was no sound from the left channel :-( The same problem is present using the RCA and the headphone outputs.
Any experience with similar problems using IFI products? Unfortunately, it is already out of warranty :-(

i had a problem with my micro, where the sound became very distorted. i had bought it 2nd hand so had no warranty. i posted on the "computer audiophile" forum and the manufacturers (AMR) responded quickly with the offer to investigate. i posted it to them and they said it needed a new pc board, complete. i agreed to pay the price and from memory it worked out to under £100 inc vat and postage. the only things they did not change were the case and battery, so great value and service.

Thanks Oldson, I paid for this one (second hand) 110 GBP. I am not sure it is worth to send it to Ifi so they can fix it for a price.
The weird part is that I used it at home without any problem during the weekend.

Umm, today it was pretty boring in the office without my music....
Considering alternatives to replace the Nano. Horrible month to do so though :-( I guess I could aim for something like a Modi 2 or even second hand Mojo or second hand Micro Idsd. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I mostly want it as a desktop dac, it does not need to be portable and it will be used with my Ember.

Fulla-2, but then you would have to wait a few more weeks perhaps.

Thanks Frans, I did not even know that there was a second version of the Fulla :-) But isn't it better to go for the modi-2? At least I get the RCA output, if that is of any advantage...

It is kind-of a tiny Modi and Magni in one box. USB in line-out and HP out but also works as line-in headphone out. Uses the same chips as the Modi-2 with AKM 4490.
As soon as it is available in Europe I will buy one (99 Euros) It can only do max 24/96 and is adaptive only (no drivers for it)
Modi-2 will have RCA-out and is bigger in size though.

It can only do max 24/96 and is adaptive only (no drivers for it) If used with Linux ALSA will let it go higher provided is a modern release, W10 will receive native USB Audio Class 2 drivers next pring when Anniversary Edition part 2 is released providing async and higher than 24/96. I reckon the C-Media CM6631A the Fulla-2 uses could well do 24/192.

Thanks Javier, Yes, I would be using linux through the ALSA "direct hardware interface, all conversions done by hardware".
Then the Fulla-2 sound like a very good compromise in a similar form factor as the Nano.

The Fulla 2 does look interesting and pricing is very good for what it offers.
UK pricing not quite so good at £110 + shipping. It was bad enough when retailers applied a silly 1:1 USD$ to GBP£ conversion rate but with the shadow of Brexit looming large I'm sure many would now gladly accept that!
Hadn't been aware that native USB Audio Class 2 support was on the cards for W10 Javier. It's taken MS rather a long time but welcome all the same.
I didn't much care for the Modi 2 (uber). Quite powerful and detailed sounding but also overly bit bright and fatiguing to my ears. Vali 2 and Lyr much easier on the ears so hope Fulla 2 is similarly 'voiced'.

Hadn't been aware that native USB Audio Class 2 support was on the cards for W10 Javier. It's taken MS rather a long time but welcome all the same. No quite mature yet but it is a (long due) start, scroll down a bit in this link: blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/12/07/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14986-pc/#syGDGOX8iKxVuDQY.97Extract:-" The USB Audio 2 Class Driver and You: Previous builds flighted to Windows Insiders have contained a Microsoft class driver for devices that support the USB Audio 2.0 standard. However, if you had a third-party driver which was specifically written for your device, Windows would use that instead. In order to get more miles on the class driver, we are temporarily changing things as of 14986 to prefer the class driver over third-party drivers – this is so we can flush out device compatibility issues and other bugs in our driver.
When you have a chance, please go through all your regular listening scenarios and see how they sound (we’ll be adding a Quest about this too!). If everything works fine for you, awesome! If you do run into a problem where our class driver does not work with your device, please let us know by filing a problem report, and then manually switching to your specific third-party driver
Some things that we are already aware of:
Our class driver does not support ASIO Our class driver does not work in WASAPI exclusive mode in certain applications For the most recent information on USB Audio in Microsoft Windows, see aka.ms/usbaudio."-

It's a pre-order. Last week it was still priced at 99 Euros. I suppose the rapidly dropping Euro value increases the price. They even have a E 139.- price tag standing by in case the Euro drops even more.
Still... not too bad even for that price.
Will wait for the first batch to be sold. Seems like they had production problems in the first run.
