Hi all, been searching for a dac/amp and initially decided to go with the o2 dac/amp from mayflower. upon visiting their site, they have a new product, the Arc. Link below. Just wanted to know if anyone has one and what your impressions are of it. also what cans you are using with it? considering the success the o2 had, im assuming the arc would def be an upgrade mayflowerelectronics.com/arc-overview/

It has an amp section operating at the same voltage rails as the O2 when driven from the wallwart. The fact that this one is powered from 5V makes it more convenient to use. Max output voltage of 7.5Vrms (21Vpp) and max output current of 170mA rms (250mA peak limited)
It will be more of a side grade than an upgrade. The DAC part is probably better. Looks like it is targetted to gamers. The fact that it has DSP makes it quite different from the O2/ODAC.
I can offer no impressions alas.

It is pretty much what I'd do too Simon. Technically it is a bit better, has even more functionality, doesn't have batteries I don't need and to top it all, it costs 150€ less.

...designed by John Westlake. Usually very good bang for the buck in my past experience. He is also designing a crowd funded dac in pinkfishmedia.

i like the proper display over the idsd colour changing led. have not looked at the spec to see how the headphone amp compares, but then again i dont use the one on my idsd as i have my Ember and V200 having said this , i dont need the display or dsd512 so its lesser sibling would suit my needs www.box-designs.com/main.php?prod=dacboxs2plus&cat=s2-line&lang=enno use to the OP of course as , no head amp.

Interesting and 120€ cheaper though it looks like not only HPA, DSD512 and display have been removed in the DAC Box S2 +, it has a sinlge DAC 9038 chip (Vs dual mono in the Pre Box S2) and also no USB power isolation.

I just found out that the Pre Box actually doesn't have "true" USB isolation and also that it has a problem with DSD, it has reversed channels which supposedly will probably be fixed sometime with a firmware upgrade. Shame...
