Anyone have any experience putting a detachable cable mod into Beyer headphones? If so, can someone recommend me a part number? I'd like a good high quality connector that will fit with minimal modification and that will have a good lifetime. Thanks,

Maybe something like this? ... imgur.com/gallery/lIQFw9QDo you recommend creating a 'dongle' off the headphone with that connector? I did kind of like that design with the Fidelio L1. It looks like a long body connector to fit in the cup.

A dongle is the easy way of doing things. It has a few drawbacks such as the plugs having more length. Using 3.5mm has the 'advantage' of unplugging when the cable becomes too short which locking ones don't and could rip headphones of the head. Can still happen with 3.5mm as well when the angle is different. A pro of the dongle method is that besides not having to open the headphone long plugs angled downwards may not be touching ones shoulder.
Superlux uses the dongle method on a few models. Had to replace one already due to the sharp 'bends' it creates when lying on a table with weighty connectors pulling it down under a steep angle.
Every upside has its downside.
