Hello, please excuse my clumsy english, I'm from Germany and I used google to translate.
I hope you can still understand what I mean?
I love your site very much, so far it has helped me a lot to decide on headphones, or rather encouraged me,
what I appreciate so much about my Beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition.
First a few next to information about me. My name André and I are 54 years old and have loved listening to music actively
and intensively since I was twelve.
In terms of music, I'm really not fixed, I really listen to everything I like and that's not just to say.
About 30 years ago I bought a pair of STAX SR5 Gold with SRD-X amplifier and have been quite satisfied with them to this day.
For the last 15 years, however, I've mostly listened to mobile with my Westone Um1, UM2 or Shure se500. Unfortunately,
the housings of the Shure broke and I have been planning to make them new for a long time.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to it yet.
A few weeks ago, an Ibasso DX160 was added as a DAP for monitoring.
Unfortunately, lately my wife has always complained when I listened to music in the living room with the STAX.
It bothers her a lot to listen to the music and also the kind of music I listen to.
So I decided to buy some new headphones, especially some closed ones, and stumbled across the offer from Beyerdynamic,
who offer to try the headphones for 60 days
and they also have good outlet deals.
I ordered a pair of DT 770 Pro/32, DT 770 Pro/80, a pair of DT 880 Edition /250 and 32 and a pair of DT 990 /250.
I like the DT 808 almost 95,9% . I like the very neutral sound, unfortunately I lack some bass, which I intend to correct with a Kameleon or with a DSP.
We didn't really like the DT 990 at all.
Unfortunately, the DT 880 are still too loud for my wife when I listen at home and are certainly not suitable for on the go.
So I need a pair of closed headphones for on the go or when my wife is in the room with me. I really like the DT 770 Pro/32, even if I find the bass a bit too strong,
although that can be fun at times, I wouldn't mind if it had a little less bass. What I tried, as you suggested, is to tape off the ports
Lo and behold, the bass is a little less, but still present and pleasant. I'm sure I can handle the sometimes quite sharp highs.
From the stage I found them good for closed headphones.
Unfortunately, the only thing that happened was that my daughter, 14 years old, liked the headphones, which somehow makes me a little proud
and now I won't get the DT 770 Pro/32 back anytime soon.
I also really liked the DT 770 Pro/ 80, almost a little better than the 32 ohm version because I had the impression that the padding produced a little less bass.
And I thought they sounded a little more open than the 32 ohm version, which could also be due to the padding.
In any case, when I mounted the leatherette pads on the 80 ohm version, the 80 ohm headphones had more bass.
Beyerdynamic also has the DT 700 Pro X in its range and also the DT 1770 and I wonder if the DT 700 would be a big improvement over the DT 770, the DT 1770
actually fall out, for me 400 € is a bit too much.
Since I could afford the 100 € the DT 700 additional costs, more likely.
Do you think I should order the DT 700 to compare with the DT 770 or is that a waste of time?
I wouldn't like to consider the 250 um version of the DT 770 because I don't like the coiled cable at all.
However, I am now faced with the problem of deciding between a pair of DT 770 Pro or a pair of DT 770 Pro X.
Thank you in advance and best regards André
