I've now made my decision!! I'm replacing my Beyer dt1350 with a Sennheiser Momentum (over ear) I can't get on with the sound tbh. I've tried, but it's not for me. The problem with these headphones is that they are a high premium headphone and sell for a big price and I don't really know what to sell them for. The Amazon price new, is £240 www.amazon.co.uk/Beyer-Dynamic-AMS-DT-1350-80-beyerdynamic-Headphones/dp/B004QMH8KI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377701578&sr=8-1&keywords=dt1350If anyone wants a DT1350, let me know and perhaps do some kind of deal. I'm loathe to get rid of them because they are actually a quality headphone but not for me with my preference for a stronger bass.I don't want to give them away but I also don't want to rip anyone off. They will contribute towards my Momentum, which will arrive tomorrow. So, if you are interested, I can post pics and let me know. They are in excellent condition. Same pair that Tyll tested in USA. Just not my cup of tea!!

They are the actual headphones fron THIS measurementand THIS reviewbe sure to check out the video at the end of this article That is... these are the DT1350's reviewed by Tyll according to D.Thorn. They are excellent MONITORS and can be made INTO wonderful portable headphones with some modifications AND a filtered amplifier. NOT recommended for all people though. I love mine to death and once 'modified' are only surpassed by my modified/filtered T50RP's

Do you think that they might not be the same, Frans? ie because of quality Control, they are a different pair and so to me sound different?

It seems not all DT1350 are created equal. There is a large spread in production mainly concerning the bass and the 300Hz hump which makes some a bit 'hollowish' This can be cured with a filter.
If Dale said these were the ones Tyll reviewed it is highly likely they are. As they are supra-aural and have thin pads the seal is very important and thus headsize and ear shape can be influencial.
One can only know when they are measured and IF these were indeed the ones Tyll measured and auditioned they are 'good'. Of course personal preference/comfort/taste also comes into play.
Hard to recommend to just anybody. It is more of a specialists 'tool' than a hifi headphone but can be made into a great hifi headphone with effort and some more cash thrown at it.

Definitely. It is extremely analytical and shows a massive amount of detail. As you say, for me it could be a question of getting it sealed. I'm not sure.
However, your description of 'hollowness' is also how I feel, which is why I was questioning whether in fact you might have known its origin. Dale did indeed tell me that Tyll used them for testing.
It could be my preference for a slightly raised bass? However, looking at GE, the graph does show a raised bass and describes it in the subjective analysis box, but I really don't hear what they are describing.
For me, it is in the same 'box' as the K701. I tried so hard to like it, but for some reason, I can't 'tune into' its sound as much as other headphones.
That's why I wondered about its origin.

Mine has raised (sub) bass, even the stock version did. Judging from Purrins efforts in showing differences between various DT1350's that were more than just noticeable one may ask if they are the same. It was mostly bass and subbass where they differ.
The seal 'problem' I fixed by putting HD25 velours pads on top of the original pads. This presents another problem and that is damping force and the cups being further apart but with these pads I get a relatively large 'sweet spot' so don't have to position them so carefully.

I often think that he has some agenda for some reason Frans and is trying to prove himself. So I tend to take some of the stuff there with a pinch of salt.
You know - an objective forum with statements like, 'I can't listen to those headphones, they give me earache'. Which isn't exactly objective is it? Also, the way you seem to be brushed aside for daring to make a statement backed by facts!! There's a lot of that in this hobby for sure!!
Perhaps for me, it's a fit problem, although that would be the first one I've had problems with for fit. I think my head's a pretty standard 7 1/4 inch pointy head!! I think you're a bit squarer than me so maybe better?
Frans, wold you like them? You can have them if so. They're no use to me - perhaps work/home? Or for your daughter or singing relative? Especially given the gear you hike over here to me. If you do, pm me and I'll send them to you.
I have no use for them.

I already have one (a good one) and have too much headphones anyway. Only use the DT1350 and Fostexes myself, the rest is tucked away or used by family members. Perhaps someone is willing to take it off your hands for a fair price. If it is the one that Tyll measured than THIS IS THE ACTUAL measurement of THIS headphone for sale here.

OK Frans. Just a thought since it is a spare and you'd be welcome to it if you wanted one at work.
