I'll let you know. I haven't heard back from him yet. He'll probably just let the offer die after 48 hours....but I did offer $25 + 12 shipping which is probably more than its worth to me. On a side note, now that all the Barclays Premier League games are shown in the US I decided to choose a team to follow and I chose Liverpool. I spent the first 11 years of my life in England and I was a fan of Albert Quixall when he was with Sheffield Wednesday....a long time ago. EDIT: He took the bid on the tube....now it seems like I offered too much. What the heck, maybe I'll like it. On the other hand, Oldson, if I don't like it I can make you a deal. i think you will like it. i doubt it would be cost effective to send it to here.

That brings back memories for me - I've lived in Sheffield for most of my life and remember Quixall. My memory of him is that he seemed about 2 moves ahead of his Wednesday team mates so Man U stepped in and tried to fit him into their team with some small success I seem to recall. Sheesh, that's some time ago, standing on The Kop with about 25 or 30 thousand others watching 20 outfield players kicking a heavy soggy leather ball around on a miserable Saturday afternoon, followed by a bite to eat in the below ground restaurant opposite the Town Hall side door (forget the name), then a pint or several of Stones Best and then a night in the Locarno before catching the far too early last bus home - those were the days . Makes me feel old!! . Dave.
Dave, if you were swigging back pints in those days, you are old.....but that is the best of the alternatives.

I just tried my 88 Voskhod 6N2P with the Alessandro MS1i and I was surprised how good they sound. It maybe that these two are a good combination. I'll do listen quite a bit more tonight. I'm not sure about shipping costs to the UK. If I don't like the tube, and you're interested, we'll check it out....I just checked and I think it can be done for $9.00.

Too bloody true in every way but I supported Wednesday from a distance and then in person from around '52 until the year they finished 2nd in Divn 1 just behind Spurs, so my memory may not be as reliable as it once was so maybe Quixall belongs in the 'distance support' category. At the end of the season in question, early '60s sometime, I decided that if Wednesday were really the second best team in the English league they no longer had much to offer me so lost interest. Dave.

After modifying my Alessandro MS1i, and trying various tubes, I am giving more time to my 83 Voskhod 6N23P. Do any of you have experience that tells you I might like the earlier 60s or 70s 6N23P-EV even better.
I am also liking the 88 Voskhod 6N2P with these HP. Starting to look forward to receiving the 1964 Reflector 6N2P that should arrive in 2 weeks.
Anyone knows how the 1967 Tungsram E80CC might compare. I would have already gotten one of these if I didn't have to buy two.

I would have already gotten one of these if I didn't have to buy two. E80CC is the tube who gave me the most bass impact (without sacrifying details innother frequencies) and the most realistic soundstage of all the tubes i've tried ! i've tried many ECC81, ECC82, ECC83, ECC86, ECC88, 6N1P, 6N2P-Ev, 6N23P, 6N27P, 6BZ7, 6GU7, 12BH7A, 5965A, etc.. Some ECC81, ECC82, ECC88 were amongst the best brands (TELEFUNKEN, MULLARD, SIEMENS, MAZDA, RTC, HOGES, DARIO MINIWATT, RCA, GE, etc...) and the one who stay on my ember is this E80CC TUNGSRAM, i can't say more
Give it a try, even it's not your taste it's impossible you can dislike the E80CC TUNGSRAM, try to get the ones in box from 60s (seller electrikua) they sounds really good, avoid the ones unboxed or tested from uk or us sellers on ebay, the most of them are not really NOS..

I'm looking for a 60s Tungsram that only requires me to purchase one tube. I may take a while....or I may just have to buy two.

i emailed Jeremy regarding this tube and he advised against using it in the Ember. i do not want to risk damaging mine (though he did not say it would) so i wont be buying one of these now.
