I recently bought a Chinese Takstar Pro 80 which is hyped on another forum. But they do sound more than decent. Only a peak in the treble (why do all Asian brands have this ?) can make them sound a bit harsh.
So, does anyone know/own these ?

I am pretty sure Claus has most of the Takstar and Somic. he might chip in. Perhaps I might measure them in the future (when Claus is interested) but seem to recall you do not feel measurements add that much in insight FWIW: Not too shabby: Goldenears Takstar Pro20There is a lot of ringing and resonances though. Might be a good modding candidate but for the money you can't complain that much.

I have a pair of Takstar TS-600 in need of some TLC (which I haven't got round to yet), but IIRC sounded quite decent before I put them in the TLC queue.
Claus would be the man you need to contact for all things Takstar as he has championed them for a few years now. He is a member of this forum, has his own Danish forum and is a thoroughly nice guy.

Is there any way to kill resonance and ringing and improve the sound?
Would be great if you could measure Pro80 or HI2050 and propose any possible mods.

There is most likely a way to improve this headphone and friends is the guy Who would know. I must admit that I have been curious about these headphones for quite a while now but they are not widely available in the UK. It's another eBay job for us.

That would be me then It will probably take yet quite some time before I can measure them and see if they can be improved on. I would have to ask Claus for them to ship them to me when the Starlight and Ember are returned (might still take a while before the Ember finished touring). Maybe they might still arrive before Rabbits package arrives though (2 weeks under way by now) but the last time it took about 3 weeks to cross the North sea. I figure someone is swimming the package over the channel and than has to walk from France all the way up here

I would love to see Takstar Hi2050 frequency response graph with the Pro80 leather earpads instead of the stock velvet ones. HI2050 could be better for modding, they are semi-open while Pro80 are closed.

I like the overall sound of my Pro 80 a lot, but there's indeed some ringing in the highs. Some say pull down the 8k slider on the EQ and it's gone, but I would prefer it would be gone anyway. So if you're willing to do some work to it I would gladly ship them to you Frans. I have some velours HI2050 earpads with them too, which really suck up the fundemental bass, so for measurements purpose I would put them in the package too.
Let me know if you're interested, got your adres.
Cheers

I believe this would make a whole lot of difference. On the Pro 80 the velvet earpads make the bass sound completly diffused. No focus anymore. So I'm curious what will happen the other way around...

No need to send it yet as it also will have to be sent back... Thanks for the offer though and may even take you up on that ...
For now I plan to wait for Claus. He is going to send the amps back anyway (when the Ember has been returned to him) and offered to send Somic and Takstars. May be several months still.

Sorry I did not see this earlier.. I will ship both 2050, and pro80 to Frans as soon as our ember tour is finished..
I have not had the time to do experiments on my headphones for way to long and Pro80 has not been modded at all, new cable and pads, but that is it.. McFrede has modded his pair.
It will mellow down with burn-in in 50-100 hours..
It is true I do not pay much attention to graphs, but some of my custumers likes that kind of information. I am working quite a bit on my webshop at the moment, It will be expanded with articles, reviews, more pictures and all kind of things, så graphs is very welcome, if Frans has the time I will ship some somics to ??

Hi, i own a takstar Hi2050 and (shortly) i love them. For my taste it sound better than Superlux 681, 668B, 681 Evo The headphones are full open so it can annoy other people, but thanks to this the soundstage are wide. It lack for the bass band and it haven't a warmth, it sound cold and analytical. Some say that The Stig wear them when he drive with GTA game, but for me the headphone are usable with all genre and use ( Music, Games, Movie) except electronic/disco music Lastly the comfort are the best ever tried on budget headpones and the velvet pad are very comfortable. The only problem with the Hi2050 is the piercing/harsh high. For now i "soft-modded" it with a two layer of toilet paper upper the driver (under the velvet pad), but they deserve a better mod For english people, it can buyed on amazon uk under the name of Koolertron HI 2050. p.s. if anyone want the somic mh463, it can be buyed on amazon uk under the name of Lasmez H-75
