Have you just got the Sennator, Ron? That's a pity because the filters aren't expensive to change. I use the dt770 for closed listening and again, on the Kameleon, it's way superior to just as it is with the treble peak and big bloat taken down. Filtered Kameleon with DT770 works great for me Ron

OK, thanks Chris. Just needed to have a rough idea in order to work out whether to charge it after every listening session or wait until it goes down significantly.
I've left the batteries on charge although the yellow light on the back is virtually out which indicates that they have charged, but I'll leave them cooking to make sure that the first one is right to the top.
I use the dt770 filter as well for closed lostening. It is really good as well.
Chris, your pics aren't working for 3rd party viewers....

Chris, your pics aren't working for 3rd party viewers.... Yeh Photobucket suddenly decided I need to pay for their services, although it says you get 2GB worth of free storage and I have only used 27%. So I have been looking at alternatives, and decided Flickr is my best option? so I opened an account with them and you get 1TB of free storage. I will be using them from now on, the only problem is the photo's that are already on the website may not show - which is a problem if other people need to see them when they are maybe building a Kameleon or other projects etc.

Photobucket seems to have gone down the pan recently. Loads of adverts and pushing for membership.

I tried using the px100 and a Momentum from the Kameleon with an hd650 filter. That's quite an interesting sound..... Both develop a clearer top, although finally, I think something is slightly off kilter but the funny thing is, I think they're both a little improved!!!! I quite like the Momentum with a more sparkly top for sure. So maybe an HD650 filter with those two and an hd600 gives reasonable results from just one filter? I wonder whether there is room for manoeuvre here with different headphones using one filter? Although not 'flat' they do seem to be improved. Even just having a slightly more defined treble helps. Widens what headphones you can then use with one amp. The Momentum isn't too bad at all!! It seems to react in a similar way to the hd650 in that there is deep bass, raised top and mid bloat is lessened. Perhaps the mids are more recessed no though..... I think the Momentummight we'll be worth EQ'ing. It sounds pretty good once the top has slightly more bite.

I spent a good chunk of time last night giving the HD 600 with the HD 650 filter another go. I'm finding I like the sound more and more. Seems to make it more transparent, and the slightly boosted sub-bass is a nice improvement. Since the 600's will be having an extended stay at the house while my mate is traveling, I may be spending some quality time with them. I think my initial reaction was premature. Sometimes a change in sound can be perceived as negative, when I think it is more the reaction to the change. If I am making any sense here.
I might pull out some other cans and see what happens with the filter. The experiment begins.

I do think that it's worth playing around Ron. The Kameleon can become a little more useful if we can get some 'pleasant' sounding matches from it. I think because the amp is designed to 'flatten' the frequency response and also extend the extremes, we become almost OCD in thinking the only headphone to work with it is that one. I've had some little surprises just hooking up something else to filters, where obviously, it's probably not flat, but an improvement in the headphone as it is without having to change the filter. The two Senns I mentioned are very low impedance so I have no idea what is going on with the FR and as usual, just use ears to see whether I like it or not. I regularly use the hd600 with the hd650 filter. Mainly because it has a short lead and I use it as a portable headphone. Today though, I tried the Momentum and while at first, I could hear that it had gone very different, I stayed with it and felt that there was an added clarity with a pleasant bass boost and treble lift. Possibly, the mids aren't quite as good but I quite like the sound. Normally, the Momentum is a bit mid bass bloaty and rolled away in the treble. On the filter, it seems as though I've 'blown my nose' and I quite like it!! Worth a go, but trust your ears and relax if the FR isn't flat. After all, the Momentum for instance, isn't flat at all as it is, so on the hd650, if it still isn't flat, it doesn't really matter if it 'sounds' better!! I do think that these Kameleons are terrific amps and am very happy if I can use more than one headphone with one filter installed. Weird logic, but it works for me.....

Hi...i am a new user here. As per my knowledge IMO the difference is subtle rather than major and that may be due to how you designed it to be or my poor hearing at that end of the spectrum, or a combination of both. pcb assembly

The differences also depend on which headphone you are using. Something that is 'flatter' by nature doesn't need much alteration whereas something that has a nasty peak will sound quite a bit different.
The DT770 for instance has a huge bass and a large treble peak. The Kameleon reduces this quite a lot and makes it a way better headphone.
Many people if left to adjust EQ by 'ear' tend to hit the wrong frequency, or make the adjustment too wide and so the effect is crude or they simply over adjust. It is quite difficult to EQ with any degree of accuracy without measuring the headphone first and guesswork can make things a lot worse.

Maybe jardcrocker means the difference between HD600 and HD650 is subtle ?

Ooh ‘eck....... have I read it wrong? In that case, hd650 and 600 is indeed subtle in differences, I agree.

Got a surprise this morning. My battery Kameleon was very quiet and could get very little volume from it. It was lit up and I could hear music.
Switched off and on and volume shot up and then went back off again after a few seconds.
Opened up and moved things about ..... nothing.
Left it turned off and I still got music, but the same low volume. It gives sound when switched off!!
Turned out that the battery was flat but there was enough to light it up so giving the impression that it was working. Hadn’t used the battery one for a while so I guess the batteries had lost some power so they’re on charge now, but I think in future, I’ll keep them topped up.......
So went on to the Senator while it charges.

I always forget to charge the batteries up - its the same with my mobile phone, maybe its an age thing EH?

I think it's difficult when in the old days, it was important to run rechargeables down and I still haven't got past that!! So I use it and then leave it and use it again and then one day, it's dead!!!
Funny thing is that it hadn't been left on or anything to run down. I just picked it up and it was flat as a pancake so it never occurred to me thatit had no power because sound actually comes through it (unamplified) when there's no juice left.

I have a problem with one of my Kameleons. If I attempt to charge it because the LED at the front very quickly goes bright red, the charging indicator LED does glow very brightly but after a short time is almost out.
It then plays for maybe 20-30 mins max before red light again.
I've checked the volts getting to the batteries and they around 9.5-10 each. I checked a few voltages on the DC-DC converter and it seems OK but I don't know what to check next?
It has the capacitor mod and still has the link on the charging pads.
