If you have ever tried the px100 or px100II, then this headphone is similar in frequency response.
It's quite puzzling why Sennheiser have brought out another range that sounds similar at around the same price level, although this one will probably make the price of the px100 drop.
In terms of looks, it's quite a spartan headphone. It has a Koss type headband - sprung steel. However, it doesn't fold up. I found that a bit odd given that it's a portable headphone. This one doesn't fold up at all and that could be it's Achille's heel. People may well prefer a Portapro because it folds up.
Cable is very thin and goes into both cups. This means that after you sling it in a bag or whatever, the cable could fold up inside itself and cause twists under your neck. Right angled plug which is good for portable use. No bag with it either. Shame at its price. Cable isn't microphonic at all.
Pads are a little bigger than px100 and so it feels a little more plush on the ears. Very comfortable to wear for long periods.
The sound is very similar to the px100. Perhaps a little more refined sounding. Good, fast bass response. Good mids. Laid back treble.
It's quite sensitive too.
So is it worth the price? I'd like it to be cheaper if I'm honest. Px100 is cheaper and very similar, plus it folds up, has a bag and a single entry cable. My feeling is that the px100 is a better buy.
