Very interesting band to listen to and have been around a long time. A new album has been released this month called, 'I See You' and I quite like its eccentricity!!
It sounds like a cross between Frank Zappa in the 'One Size Fits All' era and King Crimson. Recordings quality seems really good too.
This is only really for people who can take this type of music though - it's angular with some sarcasm contained in it and even some playing that is purposely out of tune that gives it this rough edge, while they are fully in control of what's actually going on.
There's something quite 'old fashioned' about the album sound in the way that it has been recorded.

I'll need to check this out since I haven't really given them much time since Shapeshifter. I'm not sure Gong have ever been "fully in control of what's actually going on".

It retains a curious old fashioned feel to it which I quite like. (I feel the same about early Zappa) later Zappa became more 'glitzy' and polished but this Gong album still has an element of grit in it, which is quite appealing as long as your open minded with the angular lines and wit contained in it.
