Just bought 14 of these essential hi-fi upgrades.
I had been unhappy with my sound for some time as I felt it lacked air and space.
Then I saw these!
Now I know that I'll get the air and space i'm after because my speaker cables will be raised in the air and will have some space under them.
Cant wait!!! Isolators

What on earth are they supposed to do Jeff? Just lift the cable off the floor?
Sounds about as useful as cocking your little finger when drinking a cup of tea.

I might try suspending myself from the ceiling so my headphone cable touches nothing.

They are too cheap ! I use these ones it connects my speakers to my slightly tweaked Ember you see in the back... added some tubes on it as well. Before that time I was going the cheap route (see below) but the rubber bands made the bass 'flabby/rubbery' and the cardboard didn't help either. The wooden stick worked nice so had the ones above made entirely from wood. Now it sounds so 'natural' Didn't like the carpet either and went for a 'harder' surface. Jeff... have you tried the acorn 'hats' on your cables yet ? Ensure you are using the white (uncloured) tie-wraps, the black ones make the sound too dark and the coloured ones ... well .... Of course you can also have too much 'air'

I will try the ceiling hanging as well. The option below is for occasions where left and right are accidentally swapped.

I have seen so many peoples main rigs with these lifters. They swear they make a difference. Some go on to explain the "physics" of how they work and then ask me if I have wool polyester, polyethylene or polypropylene carpet. Apparently it makes a difference what type you have as to how high the cables have to be off the ground. I guess carpeting has some unknown field that extends to infinity like gravity. Perhaps we should ask the folks at CERN to look for the associated particle. The Pigg's Bozo Boson? Something about increasing the resistance in the cable or something. Many use old ceramic isolators from old power equipment. If they think it sounds better, then it does. It's only money. Frans should I talk to Jeremy about upgrading the Ember? I'm thinking of getting a HIFIMAN and I've heard I need at least a 500 Watt amp to make them sound their best. . Great pictures everyone. Do they make them for headphone cables, or are the acorns the best way to go?

Now does that hat reduce the resistance between neurons? Or does it have a shielding effect reducing noise inside the brain.

Sometimes explanations aren't that strange ...
The acorn hat simply covers the ears and thus removes the higher frequencies. It also causes the seal to break due to the open nature of the knitted hat and headphones with too much bass and treble will sound great.
Downside: your ears and head get quite hot when wearing these in the summer but at least pleather pads won't stick to the skin.

Yes but does it reduce ringing? I think some CSD plots are in order. If we are lucky JDS Labs will come out with the Abyss Acorn Hat accessory. Only $2999.99 . Makes any over priced poorly designed headphone sound the same. But helps keep your head warm during winter and will impress your audiophile friends as it has the JDS logo on it.

Looks like they may have raised the price on the EF-5. Was about $400, now is about $500. Glad you like the amp. I have heard several HIFIMAN headphones at meets. I like all the ones I heard. Haven't heard any amps yet. They make good products and don't charge $5000 for them. I'm just poking some fun at JDS. The Abyss is a great sounding headphone. Just think the price is ridiculous, at least for my wallet.
