I sorta agree with Ian.
With Sonarworks A/B I find no difference in mere seconds. But if I keep listening to Sonarworks for a few minutes:
The treble becomes more prominent without really getting boosted
The mid bass hump decreases. Their is more sub bass and less boomy.
The mids lose some of the magic as well but are still good.

i had never heard of sonarworks until now, will look into it.
i assume there is a plug-in for foobar?

There is a VST capabilty enabling plugin for Foobar. Once installed almost any Pro VST can be used and there plenty HQ parametric EQs available.
It is a bit fiddly but can be done.

Frans,
i am having a few power related problems with my filter.
if i turn it off using the power switch on the unit, it will not turn back on again!
the only way i get it back into life is cycling the power to the psu.
any ideas?

If it has a DCDC converter on the PCB that may probably be the culprit.

i have just realised that there are no more filter boards available.
how will the "kameleon type" unit work? can i use it with my Ember desktop system?

You will have to wait till Jeremy finishes his filter-add-on module.
That will basically be similar to a filter board but it accepts the Kameleon filter modules.
No idea when it will become available though.
The G1217 module will be fed with the Ember power supply. The board supplies the power to the Ember.
As a bonus you can switch the filter + Ember off with a switch on the front of the module.
