ha ha its an "E350" sport, diesel. the wife and i have just spent the last hour watching the Eagles "hell freezes over" dvd in surround sound (harman kardon 7.1) , in the bloody car!! how sad is that? i never thought i would be able to own a car like this. it would normally be way beyond me.(thanks Mum) we are only here once so we thought "sod it", lets have it.

Good for you! I could really enjoy that particular auto myself. I like diesels for the power in the mountains and the space in back is really nice when we travel. I've never been one to spend a lot on cars but I've been thinking about it lately. Not sure if I'll do it but we'll see.

Heck of a coincidence that I just got an e-mail from United Airlines promising 25,000 frequent flyer miles if I buy a certified used Mercedes through their website.

It's a nice car mate. A shame you're having to sell the house to afford it though

You are getting rid of such a beauty barely 1 yr old? ? no it was not brand new when we got it. it is now 3 and a half years old. thing is mate, when i got the money from the sale of my late Mum's house, the wife and i thought we would buy our first really decent motor. then about a month later we learned that the government had changed the amount of discount they allow to council tennents who wish to buy their house. (ie us) we had wrote off the idea of buying our house some years back as it was just too expensive for our circumstances at the time. somewhere between then and now , things changed and coupled with our inheritance we decided to re-apply. it should all be completed this month. as things stand i hardly use the merc as i use a company car during the week. the wife has an old vitara for running the dogs around in and also she has a vintage vw beetle. so the merc is sat there depreciating at a rate of £200/mth. dont get me wrong it will be gut wrenching to see it go, but the hose could do with new windows etc. its basically time for me to be sensible. when its gone i will ask Ian to remove this thread.

I see... it makes sense then.
My car is over 14yrs old and has almost 250k Km under the belt (153K miles) so 3.5yrs is mint in my book.
Good luck with the sale!

Crikey Javier. 14 years is getting on for antique in the UK!! I think most people are with cars here for around 5 or so years. 14 is really good.
